I'm trying to get veracity (http://www.rocksoft.com/veracity/), a tripwire replacement, working on FreeBSD 5.x. When I try and create a snapshot I get the following error for files sitting on my root partition: -- snip snip -- csh.logout E: Error opening binary (B) stream of file "/etc/csh.logout". (OS error message="File is on the procfs (/proc)

'Bind'-method authentication for LDAP
Has there been any thought given to implementing authentication via an LDAP 'bind', rather than by a password lookup and hash comparison? doing a bind would obviate the need to make the passwords readable by the dovecot process and would lend itself to improved security. Outlook 2003 duplicates UIDL
Hi I have Redhat ES4.0 with dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1 installed. Reading a post Outlook Duplicates issue is still killing me, there seems to be asolution to this, I was wondering when this will be available on redhat es40? # Note that Outlook 2003 seems to have problems with %v.%u format which is # Dovecot's default, so if you're building a new server it would be a good # idea to

problems using --ignore-existing and filter rules
...that I am crazy to think that I should be able to do this with rsync, or if the consensis is that there indeed a bug which needs to be debugged and exterminated? (Now if only rsync offered a way to run commands on the remote server when certain files were updated...hehe). - Doug -- Douglas Wade Needham - KA8ZRT UN*X Consultant & UW/BSD kernel programmer Email: cinnion <at> ka8zrt . com http://www.ka8zrt.com Disclaimer: My opinions are my own. (no subject)
I am trying to get away from courier imap because it is flaky the way it uses FAM (or gamin in my case), and the developers seem to have a chip on their collective shoulder, and it is too complex. I found dovecot because it is ships with CentOS 4 (ie Red Hat Enterprise 4). It looks like just what I need: simple, fast. But I can't use it! I can't authenticate. If any of these statements

Outlook or Outlook express.
...can come up with a procedure or guideline or HOW-TO I would much appreciate it. The only reason I use NT at work is to run Outlook to connect to our production Exchange server. I would like to be able to show that I don't need Windows for anything at work. Can anyone help out? Thanks, Doug Needham

Dovecot imap with Postfix and using Thunderbird as client
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of the mysterious fix to this problem that Curtis describes in his followup: "I vaguely remember something like this, but I don't recall the fix" I recently installed dovecot on a server running RHEL4-AS-U2 and have updated to RHEL latest dovecot package, dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1. Seeing as this is close to the version Curtis is running

Failed to verify incoming ticket!
Hello, a few people asked about this problem here, but up to now I have not seen a solution. System: fresh installed Debian Woody with backported packages from backports.org, nothing else, only samba3 running. System ist intended as replacement for our old windows-fileserver. Situation: after installation and configuration all worked well, accessing shares works without password-checking.

unified authentication
Howdy list, Sorry if this is a frequently discussed topic, or an off-topic question, but I couldn't find much info about my question by performing quick searches in the archives, and my question is pretty tightly related to security... Background: =========== I have a number of FreeBSD machines. Most are 4.x, but a few are 5.x (mainly the testing/devel machines). I also have a single Red

Affiliate plugin
Hello all, I''ve been looking around everywhere for a valid plugin that will allow for creation of an affiliate account along with a specific link for the signup. Additionally it would need the ability to track sales with the link and possibly a cookie for returning customers. I''ve looked at the affiliate project that''s available via github but it''s
