reading non-existent files
...the directory plus file names and
use "read.delim()".
My problem is that some file names are missing, so I get an error
and my program stops.
Is there a way to check for a null pointer analogous to C, so that
I can simply skip non-existent filenames?
Please do "Reply to all" since in the company I am not subscribed
to the R-help list.
Thank you in advance

ROracle problem with Oracle9i on Red Hat 8.0
...t.lib failed
The 2 solutions mentioned in ROracle/inst/INSTALL don't seem to help (1:
define $LD_LIBRARY_PATH, 2: compile statically).
Is there any solution to this? I would greatly appreciate any help!!
Best wishes,

Memory problem with 64bit R using PLASQ500k
...cn(StyFolder="STD",normStyFolder="SND",betasSty=NULL,quantSty=NULL,betasSty
File="betasSty.Rdata",rawCNStyfile="rawCNSty.Rdata")
Using only six 250K Sty CEL-files it was impossible to finish this
calculation.
On a 32GB RAM Linux server the job got killed, since function EMSNP() which
is called from function getBetas() used up all RAM. Starting the computation
on our 64GB RAM Linux server, function EMSNP() could be executed,
nevertheless, we had to kill the job, when it reached memory consumption of
74GB!!! at a later stage!
Interestingly, when running PL...

RE: Comparison of correlation coefficients - Details
...uctor package "MeasurementError.cor" as alternative to "cor.test".
Mark Kimpel suggested that 2-way factorial Anova or the Bioconductor
package "limma", respectively, may be helpful. Mark Reiners suggested
to use the p-value of "cor.test" to test the significance.
Maybe, I miss the point, but being not a statistician I am still unsure
if it is possible to compare correlation coefficients from different
sample sets. Both, the p-values from "cor.test" and from "compcorr",
could be used as measure of the significance.
However, is it poss...

[PATCH] Fix samba daemon startup with systemd

Does systemd give more complexity yes, very, and still i use it.
Last, it stats ": This is exactly what systemd introduces into Linux: error prone complexity and instability.:"
Well, i use debian as of 2.1/2.2 ( slink/potato ), do i notice difference, not really, everything is still stable.
Hardly any crashes, so sysv systemd, who cares, they all work fine.
Just like any of these :

Winbind/RH7.1...More Help
The winbind now works...my getent passwd & groups returns the domain
users/groups
What should be the next step? my clients (Win2K & Win9x) are still
prompting for a password and I cannot login to my linux box using
DOMAIN*domainuser.
Must I add each domain user as a user on the linux box?

RE: Comparison of correlation coefficients - Details
...and then to Fisher's z and then follows with
comparisons. More, comparisons can take into account sample sizes, or the
value of some other predictor variable.
I believe there is a Rosenthal book on meta-analysis published by Sage
publications, as well as a Brian Mullen book published by Lawrence Erlbaum.
Brian Mullen's book comes (or used to come) with a meta.exe program to
perform meta-analyses.
Hope this helps,
