Billing Fun - anybody know where to get a NPA/NXX db?
...structures for each user of the system - so I can bill client A at 3
cents a minute and client B at 2 cents, etc...
Anyway, my question is: where can I get a copy of the NPA/NXX db without
paying an arm and a leg for it? The NPA's are a free zipped up .mdb
(gag) file on this page: http://www.nanpa.com/area_codes/index.html
I also came across a 1999 version of the whole shebang in a text file
here: http://sd.wareonearth.com/~phil/npanxx/
It would be nice to be able to accurately lookup city and state for
billing. Anybody have a resource?
Thanks,
Thomas Hutton

ASTCC: potential billing issue and "fix"
...ave set up ASTCC (and
possibly the way others have set it up as well). The issue is that ASTCC
tries to match the pattern *anywhere* in the called number, not
necessarily only at the beginning.
I have set up ASTCC Routes like this:
1800 Tollfree Trunk1 0 0 100
1416 Canada Trunk2 0 0 400
- other NANPA codes -
1 USA Trunk1 0 0 400
011971 UAE Trunk3 0 0 3000
- other international codes -
Now, for "other international codes" I have not included all the
countries, just the ones that are important for now. I has expected to
add others as they became necessary. However, today somebody ca...

All non US 48 area codes?
Is there a list somewhere or a way to find the following:
1- All non US 48 area codes which can be dialed as 1+10
2- All strange area codes which are used for premium services such as
900-XXX-XXXX
3- Anything else that should be restricted if one was to restrict all
calls to US 48 only
I have found many list but it's tough looking at the entire list of
area codes and pulling out each of them

CLASS feature syntax
I'm looking to implement some basic CLASS features, using my own
dialplans as well as those so thoughtfully contributed by "The
Traveller" a few weeks back.
However, instead of building my own dialing sequences (*69, *67, etc.
etc.) for these features, I went looking for the standard list of
CLASS dialing codes. I found this

Vertical
Hi all.
I'm in the process of configuring a phone system for my family and friends.
I'm wondering if I should try to implement the "Vertical
Services" (http://www.nanpa.com/number_resource_info/vsc_assign) in the
Asterisk dialplan, or if I should delegate those functions to the various
ATA's.
For example, the Sipura SPA 2002 can handle*69 internally. On the other hand,
doing it in the Asterisk dialplan gives me centralized control.
I'm torn. Anyon...

NPA NXX data
HI all - I know, slightly off list, but.. I'm looking for a NPA NXX database with City and State. Actually it's for an Asterisk routing app I'm working on. I see several vendors that want a few bucks to those that want an arm and leg. I expect this is published somewhere by some government agency, but Google hasn't got me to it yet.

AstDB/Berkely DB - Hash function? Balanced-Tree? b-Tree? Linked List?
Does anyone know enough about the implementation of AstDB to know
whether the data structure is a Hash function, a Balanced-Tree, a
b-Tree, or a Linked List?
I'm trying to estimate the lookup 'cost' of a AstDB with around 160,000
keys? Obviously I already know that it WILL WORK, but the question is
whether the data structure is optimal in the Berkeley DB AS IMPLEMENTED
in Asterisk.

FreePBX: using context other than the default context and the generation for the configuration
Hi All;
If I set a context other than the default context, then I do not see a generation for a configuration in the extensions_additional.conf for this context, but always the generation for the configuration is for the default context (from-internal).
Normally, I have to put some Phones in a context and another Phones in a context, and give each context a privilages, but if I do this, then I

Unofficial Broadvoice-users query/offer and DID routing question

could be an issue that's isolated to the provider they're getting the
DID from. I acquired another did from them that they're getting from a
different provider (Global Crossing) so that I can test this theory
without bugging them. 312/625 is utilized by Global Naps according to

Nufone and Dialing Out
Good evening,
I just signed up with Nufone and I am able to receive calls with no
problem via my 800 number. Outgoing calls are not going through though.
My extensions.conf is as follows:
[nufone-out]
exten => _91NXXNXXXXXX,1,SetCallerID(mynumber)
exten =>
_91NXXNXXXXXX,2,Dial(IAX2/user:pass@switch-2.nufone.net/${EXTEN:1})
exten => _91NXXNXXXXXX,3,Congestion

+ on Caller-ID
I've had this discussion in the office and with some vendors, but no
one has a solid answer, hopefully someone here does.
What is the proper way to format a caller-ID here in the U.S.?
Is it:
+15705551212
or is it
+5705551212
I've always seen it +15705551212, but as I understand it the country
code for the US is 011, which to me would indicate you put
011-570-555-1212 as the callback

Dialing area question
I am wanting to perform toll bypass using multiple gateways for outgoing
calls.
For example, if I call from location A to location B and I have a gateway in
location B I obviously want to use location B's gateway to make it a
local call.
I understand how to get the local prefixes from NANPA but my question is:
If there are additional numbers that are local (non-toll) calls from a
particular
calling area, how do I discover them. Many adjacent calling areas are
accessible
via 7-digit dialing but you get usage sensitive charges which are
undesirable.
I just want to easily figure out whi...

Getting caller-name - cid_rewrite 1.0.0
Hi folks, I think my little agi script is ready for the big one-oh-oh.
Available at http://muware.com/asterisk is cid_rewrite-1.0.0. This
agi-script does the following:
- Standardize incoming caller-id numbers to adhere to US dialing code;
NANPA numbers are reformatted to 1+10, international numbers become
011<country-code><number> (this is customizable with a little PHP
knowledge).
- Look up the associated caller-id name in a mysql table.
- If not found in the DB, it attempts a reverse-lookup on 411.com (and
extracts the City...
