Hi all. I'm in the process of configuring a phone system for my family and friends. I'm wondering if I should try to implement the "Vertical Services" (http://www.nanpa.com/number_resource_info/vsc_assign) in the Asterisk dialplan, or if I should delegate those functions to the various ATA's. For example, the Sipura SPA 2002 can handle*69 internally. On the other hand, doing it in the Asterisk dialplan gives me centralized control. I'm torn. Anyone want to weigh in on this? -- Mike gpg key: http://diehlnet.com/~mdiehl/mdiehl.asc 83AD D927 758D 4BFC A800 0277 4B26 75A4 F0D1 C7EB
Personally, I'd do it on the asterisk server. If not, things may get confusing if you add any other devices later. Use asterisk... not only is it more centralized. But, you also don't have to rely on the ATA supporting it. Leave it in the ATA! As long as you can live with standardizing on an ATA. Sipura/Linksys a good choice for VSCs. Even if you use some IP hardphones as well you will find softkey or hardkey functions to replace most of the VSCs. (redial, forward, return call, etc.). IP 501 Polycom has a good feature set in this regard, as do many others.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users- > bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Mike Diehl (Encrypted email > preferred) > Sent: Monday, April 10, 2006 9:33 PM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Vertical > > Hi all. > > I'm in the process of configuring a phone system for my family and > friends. > > I'm wondering if I should try to implement the "Vertical > Services" (http://www.nanpa.com/number_resource_info/vsc_assign) inthe> Asterisk dialplan, or if I should delegate those functions to thevarious> ATA's. > > For example, the Sipura SPA 2002 can handle*69 internally.
