scrub on snv-b107
scrub completed after 1h9m with 0 errors on Tue Feb 17 12:09:31 2009
This is about twice as slow as the same srub on a solaris 10 box with a
mirrored zfs root pool. Has scrub become that much slower? And if so,
why?

luactive question
After a liveupgrade and luactivate I can login to the -new- BE.
My question is: do I have to luactive the -old- BE again if I want to
chose that one from the grub menu or can I just run it if I want to.

incremental backup with zfs to file
...restore those files? I know how to recreate the root pool
and how to restore the first one (.../snaps/rpool.0908)
But what is the exact zfs syntax to restore the second file on top of
the first one, containing the differences between the two?

destroy means destroy, right?
Hi,
I just said zfs destroy pool/fs, but meant to say zfs destroy
pool/junk. Is ''fs'' really gone?

We are back at square one; or, at the subject line.
I did a zpool status -v, everything was hunky dory.
Next, a power failure, 2 hours later, and this is what zpool status

S10u6, zfs and zones
..., will it be possible to have those zones I run now too?
I always understood ZFS and root zones are difficult. I hope to be able
to change all FS to ZFS, including the space for the sparse zones.
Does somebody have more information on this?

b134 - Mirrored rpool won''t boot unless both mirrors are present
I have two 500 GB drives on my system that are attached to built-in SATA ports on my Asus M4A785-M motherboard, running in AHCI mode. If I shut down the system, remove either drive, and then try to boot the system, it will fail to boot. If I disable the splash screen, I find that it will display the SunOS banner and the hostname, but it never gets as far as the "Reading ZFS config:"

Zfs and b114 version
http://dlc.sun.com/osol/on/downloads/b114/
This URL makes me think that if I just sit down and figure out how to
compile OpenSolaris, I can try b114 now^h^h^h eventually ? I am really
eager to try out the new quota support.. has someone already tried
compiling it perhaps? How complicated is compiling osol compared to,
say, NetBSD/FreeBSD, Linux etc ? (IRIX and its quickstarting??)

Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
Like many others, I am looking to put together a SOHO NAS based on ZFS/CIFS. The plan is 6 x 1TB drives in RAIDZ2 configuration, driven via mobo with 6 SATA ports.
I''ve read most, if not all, of the threads here, as well as sbredon''s excellent article on building a home NAS, yet I still have a number of unanswered questions.
I was leaning heavily towards the M2N-E for a while,

Mirror and RaidZ on only 3 disks
Hi,
I have a small Linux server PC at home (Intel Core2 Q9300, 4 GB RAM),
and I''m seriously considering switching to OpenSolaris (Indiana,
2008.11) in the near future, mainly because of ZFS. The idea is to run
the existing CentOS 4.7 system inside a VM and let it NFS mount home
directories and other filesystems from OpenSolaris. I might migrate more
services from Linux over time, but for

SDXC and the future of ZFS
Wouldn''t it be great if the opensolaris community creates a fs fzfs (for flash zfs) that
could be the the filesystem for SDXC cards? Two main point for this are already there
Sun is a member of SD Card Association and the code writting smart on a flash should be there as well with stuff of l2arc.
I think that could give the opensolaris a more visiblie/ markting in the IT space and

unionfs help
Is it possible to emulate a unionfs with zfs and zones somehow? My zones
are sparse zones and I want to make part of /usr writable within a zone.
(/usr/perl5/mumble to be exact)
I can''t just mount a writable directory on top of /usr/perl5 because then
it hides all the stuff in the global zone. I could repopulate it in the
local zone but ugh that is unattractive. I''m hoping

compression at zfs filesystem creation
Hi,
I just installed 2009.06 and found that compression isn''t enabled by default when filesystems are created. Does is make sense to have an RFE open for this? (I''ll open one tonight if need be.) We keep telling people to turn on compression. Are there any situations where turning on compression doesn''t make sense, like rpool/swap? what about rpool/dump?
Thanks,

solaris 10U7
I just noticed that my zpool is still running v10 and my zfs filesystems
are on v3. This is on solaris 10U3. Before upgrading the zpool and ZFS
versions I''d like to know the supported versions by solaris 10 update.7
I''d rather not make my zpools unaccessable ;)

mirrored drive
OK, I''ve got a proble I can''t solve by myself. I''ve installed solaris 11
using just one drive.
Now I want to create a mirror by attached a second one tot the rpool.
However, the first one has NO partition 9 but the second one does. This
way the sizes differ if I create a partiotion 0 (needed because it''s a
boot disk)..
How can I get the second disk look
