w32time and Samba PDC Domains
I see that the w32time service as it is configured when a Win2K Pro client joins a Samba PDC Domain is not configured in such a way that the service is able to successfully sync time with Samba. Finding RDoc templates
Hi all, I would like to change my RDoc template to something similar to the RDocs on this site: http://caboo.se/doc.html Does any one know where this template (or similar) or other RDoc templates are available? I tried googling for rdoc templates for a long time and came up with nadda. Thanks in advance.

Samba and Vista?
I just purchased a new HP laptop running Vista Home Premium on it, turned it on and was able to get it to connect to the Internet through my home wireless network. But when I tried to see other computers on my network I got nadda... One of my computers is running Win2K so perhaps that is understandable, one XP Pro which I don't understand why Vista can't see it, and three of my computers are running SuSE Linux 10.1 and 10.2 with Samba servers. All of my computers can see the Vista laptop, and mount shares from...

XFS vs. ext3
...possible. I ran tests continuously for about 12 hours; I had to be able to guarantee my results. The results were clear and dramatic. Anywhere from 2 to 44 dropped frames out of 200 with ext3. (The worst ext3 numbers came while overwriting already existing files.) Zero dropped frames with XFS. Nadda. None. After the first few clear XFS tests I put extra load on the machine while the tests were running to see if that would make XFS hiccough - copying large files around internally, spawning CPU-eating programs. It didn't. Well... not until I threw a fork bomb at it, anyway. <smirk&gt...

Off-line help.
...me. I.e. if I do, e.g., > help(plot, offline=T) ***nothing*** happens. Previously, (before I re-installed R to get command-line editing working, I think) if did this, a file called ``plot.ps'' was created in the current working directory, and I could happily lpr this file. Now .... nadda. I have a ***vague*** recollection that when I was reconfiguring/ re-installing R, a message flashed past on the screen to the effect that .dvi help files would not be available, but I didn't pay much attention at the time. I have no idea why this should be the case; nothing had changed excep...

Odd "Access Denied" which does not get logged even at log level 100
...to the UNC of the printer and restart the spooler task I no longer get the Access Denied error. However, trying to have AddPrinterA do the entire job returns an Access Denied, I was thinking from SMB. But I have cranked up the server logging to 100 and do not catch a think when I run the utility, nadda! Simply adding the ports and restarting the spooler before AddPrinterA is a lot better than the extent I have had to code to... AddPrinterA to LPT1: and then hack the settings of each printer... yuck! Am I appraoching time for a sniffer to debug this one, or should I set additional logging someho...

Unable to turn off file locking
I'm running Samba 3.0.20b with XP and DOS clients. I have zero issues with WindowsXP clients but if I have a XP client accessing a file then try to get a DOS client to access (ro and rw) the same file I'm met with a sharing violation. I've tried all sorts of combinations of the following parameters: strict locking, oplocks, level2 oplocks, defer sharing violations, locking, and

What Happened to my SAMBA? Permissions Issue
OK. Everything is going great for 4 years on my FC3 Samba Version 3.0.3-5. Now all of a sudden, when someone opens a Word/Excel file on a Samba share, it changes the user Owner to that user as well as modifies the permissions to r-x and leaves the group/permission bits/owner setting alone. I have the root directories for all shares with the u and g sticky bits set on, but it is not enforcing
