Samba update 3.0.14a to 3.2.5 -> machine needs unix account!?!
Hi list,
i've updated from 3.0.14a to 3.2.5 using a PDC-LDAP-setup.
With 3.0.14a the "Primary Group SID" value was taken from LDAP's machine
account entry.

Fwd: could not read attribute 'gidNumber' --> seems to work with ldapsearch
If I run a normal ldapsearch it gives me the gidnumber and uidnumber
attributes. It looks like the AD is set up properly.

Hi list,
it's me again. I have 2 samba servers, one as a PDC, the other as a file
server.
I can now join the domain. But it's impossible to mount the smb shares.
The 2 servers are listening on several private networks, using vlans.
10.16.41.0/24 is a routed network, all over the campus. The others are
just nated through a FreeBSD box.
All dns datas are ok and uptodate

FastCgi/OCI8 problem
Hi,
I''m having problems running my rails application in the following
setup Unix/Apache/FastCgi/Oracle10g.
I had my app running quite happy until I installed the OCI8 driver.
When I try to load the app I get in the apache logs the famous
"undefined method ''define_a_column'' for class OCI8:Cursor (NameError)"
I think the problem is with the fastcgi set up

RODBC and Oracle
I just joined and though I did quickly read the posting guide it is quite possible not going to be a perfect posting. For one I tried to figure out how to reply to an existing message on the topic. I gave up but figured I keep at least the same subject.
In a gist I get an empty data frame after issuing the following select query from R 2.9.1 to Oracle 10.2.0.1 64bit via RODBC 1.3 and Oracle 11g

How does group mapping function ?
Hi all, this is a re-post, maybe the Samba Team can help ?
I'm testing group mapping, wondering how It works exactly...
I thought Samba was storing a mapping table allowing to retreive infos on
Unix/Windows groups in a DYNAMIC way. Unfortunately, group mapping seems to
be static, here is what I did :
[I'm using Samba b3v3 + LDAP, WITHOUT nss-ldap/pam-ldap/winbind ->

Cannot join domain: "The user name could not be found"
Hello!
I'm trying to join a Windows XP (64 bit version) machine to a Samba
3.0.21a domain via smbldap-tools 0.9.1 on FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE-p4 and I'm
continually getting the message "The user name could not be found."
I am attempting to join using members of the Domain Admins group (mapped
to Unix group 515), and I'm noticing in the logs (below) that even

dovecot update ?
...====================================================
Although dovecot's port was up and running, my users still could not
read or see there folders.
It was only once I realised that when I copied and renamed my
.subscription file to subscription, did it all work.
Obviously the mistake was on myside but telling debconf to over write
the conf file, but I find it a bit weid that when on killing dovecot and
then restarting the with the old conf file, it still did not work.
To be honest, im a bit lost as to how im going to rectify this, but I
know that I want to upgrade my packages.
If you can h...
