Nodes and defaults question
Hi there, If I have a manifest with, say: node default { ..stuff.. } node mymachine { ..stuff.. } What would happen on mymachine: will the stuff in default be executed *as well as* the stuff in default, or only the stuff in mymachine? And, if the latter, should I move global stuff just to global scope outside of nodes? Thanks -Iwan

[Bug 1120] sftp deletes files if destination==source and client==server
...Linux Status: NEW Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: sftp AssignedTo: bitbucket at mindrot.org ReportedBy: 1useaccount_84 at mailinator.com If one inadvertently does a "self-connection" (i.e., from the client machine "mymachine" types "sftp mymachine"), logs in, and then "put foo", sftp transfers the file foo **leaving it empty** (0 bytes), therefore producing data loss. Maybe it is easier with an example: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ user at mymachine:~$ ls -l foo -rw-rw-r-- 1 u...

question on register and dnsmgr_lookup
I "thought" I has everything using IP addresses. I am not making "outside" calls this is all internal. I have a connection between two machines both running asterisk. I am using 1.8.3 and I see a lot of dnsmgr_lookup's for "mymachine". I have a register line in sip.conf that is the only place mymachine is referenced. the actual definition for host= is the IP address. the register line is something like: register => jerry_asterisk:password at mymachine I presume the mymachine is causing the dnsmgr_lookup's Can I...

Can't use mount command with samba
I have a home network based on Win XP Pro, with one Linux machine running Red Hat 9. All updates have been applied. There's no domain controller. I can connect from the Linux machine to the XP machines via Konqueror using smb://mymachine/myshare However, I can't use the mount command. I'm trying to use syntax like mount -t smbfs -o username=myname, password=mypwd //192.168.0.1 /win/myshare But I always just get a print-out showing command usage, and then demonstrating the exact syntax that I am using. I got this from Th...

After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
Hai Viktor,   Yes, i did keep that in mind that it was an upgrade, that exact why im responding. ;-)   If in the base  /etc/hostname, /etc/nsswitch.conf and /etc/resolv.conf or systemd  cointains wrong settings, you might inherit these. So it might be that a previous samba was accepting these settings, but a latest samba not. Or a previous systemd version accepted these and a newer not..

SAMBA-LDAP and variable substition
Hello, Im using Samba and LDAP together and if I use the scriptPath attribute for a user defined in LDAP, it seems that variable substitions no longer work like they did when you're using the global logon script parameter in smb.conf. example: scriptPath = scripts\%m.bat ==> %m.bat is NOT substituted to machinename.bat Because the "logon scripts" directive of smb.conf will

rules - access by mac address
Hi, At the moment I am controlling my LAN client access to the Inet by their MAC address. Currently I am putting their MAC address in the rules file - now the number of the PC that I want to manage is getting more and more and it is not practicle to do this way anymore. My question is, how can I have their MAC address in other separate file? Regards http://www.debian.org/consultants/#Malaysia
