audio mumbo-jumbo
Can someone *please* help me out in finding some good starting placing to learning the basics of what I will need to know for developing a *very simple* audio player? I wanting to use Ogg Vorbis in some thesis work, but am unfamiliar with the audio domain. Any help in find references (books, webpages, people) on development of streaming audio player would be greatly appreciated as well (I

Probably a "bug" in the dendextend package

Some simple Q's about Vorbis...
Hello all! I am wondering if anyone can help me locate some information concerning streaming Vorbis files. I am needing to locate the information for a multimedia networking class I am taking so I can learn all this audio and networking mumbo-jumbo. For the class, I need to locate 3 streaming media types and answer the following questions: Does it use Meta files? Does it use UDP or TCP? Is RTP and/or RTSP used? As far as I've been able to determine thus far, by readin...

A "bug" in plot.dendrogram - can't plot lty with character color
The problem: =========== Once a dendrogram has a branch with both a line type AND a color (which is a character color), the plot.dendrogram function will not plot and return an error. I say this is a bug because (I believe), we would like a dendrogram to be able to use character colors, while also allowing control over line types. This e-mail includes an example, and what I think a solution

exten versus EXTEN
p 176 has exten => 1NXXNXXXXXXX,1,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@myprovider) how is "exten" distinct from "EXTEN"? What is this line of code doing? https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+Standard+Channel+Variables says that EXTEN is the current extension. In ruby, you this: H = Hash["a" => 100, "b" => 200] The => is a mapping, or at least

Work folders
Hello, Quick question: Can Samba host Work Folders? I've just started looking at the issue and the "feature" does require a server role, which I suppose is some new protocol that may not be implemented in Samba. Thanks Philippe The trouble with common sense is that it is so uncommon. <Anonymous>

NT4 performance in Netware primary login.
...slower than W95 which is very good. This performance problem is consistant. Even copying files from the samba drives to a local disk chokes. There does not appear to be a problem with the browsing, but I/O performance, yuk. I am running NT4 on Pentium 300s, so there should not be a shortage of mumbo on the client side. Help ... I'm running as a client, not a server, and am attempting to mount a share from a Windows server. There is much networking mumbo-jumbo in the way, but I don't think any of it applies, since I can telnet to port 139 on the server in question and telnet connects nicely. But any Samba utility I use fails with the above error, never getting to the point where it asks for a password. The main command I need to run is:...

Well, I actually prefer modern lossy codecs at high bitrates to make the sound closer to the original, even if at expense of delta wavs. "Sergei": use FLAC for bit-exact audio compression. -- Lucas Clemente Vella lvella at gmail.com<mailto:lvella at gmail.com> ----------...

Hiring Setup
Sorry to just jump in on the list like this, but I'm in a hurry. I've become lost in the mumbo-jumbo of the Wiki. Is there anyone on this list who would set up a Asterisk system for me? I have a Fedora Core 2 fresh install on an HP Pavilion 6553, along with a single POTS line. I'll buy the hardware I need to add to it to get Asterisk to work. We also have a couple of computers, inclu...

new to samba
hello I just installed redhat 7.2 and I want to get samba working. I read the man file for smb.conf but there's a question that I just can't figure out. This is what I have : I have a LAN with two win2k workstations and a linux box. This is what I would like to do: I would like to to have each user have access to a public folder and to their own home folder. How do I do that?
