Samba 3 with OpenLDAP multimaster or Fedora-DS
Hi,
I'd like to know if any of you have ever implemented Samba 3 with
OpenLDAP multimaster (using syncrepl, maybe) or Fedora-DS. The basic
idea would be:
- WAN link dies, the remote office's BDC would promote itself to PDC
(using some kind of monitoring script), and will start accepting
changes to the user base. Also, some change to the local WINS server
would be necessary.
- WAN link

MultiMaster dsync (cluster1 cluster2 cluster3)
Will MultiMaster dsync work fine or will be big problems ?
I configured dovecot to dsync
from serv1 to serv2 to serv3 and repeat to serv1 to serv2 to serv3 and
repeat...
When email received to serv2, it will be synced to serv3, and serv3 will
sync it to serv1, and serv1 will sync it to serv2 and will stop here
because emails matched.
What problems can be with this kind of configuration ?

Understanding Samba 4's features and goals
...erver behavior have been replaced with a
"role" option. That makes total sense to me.
Here's what doesn't make sense to me, though: this option has
"PDC" and "BDC" settings, among others. But my understanding of
the Active Directory world is that it is a "multimastering"
environment, in which updates can be made on *any* DC and will
be replicated correctly to the other DCs in the domain. There
is therefore no PDC/BDC distinction.
So, the big questions:
1. Will Samba 4 support multimastering, AD-style, with no BDCs?
2. Can the other masters run Windows AD, o...

Enable samba BDC to allow writing to local LDAP
How to configure smb.conf of a samba BDC server to allow that all changes (user's passwords changing, joining computers) was written to local LDAP.
I?ve set remotes LDAP's (BDCs) with multimaster configuration via syncrepl.
LDAP Multimaster feature works fine (N-way replication works perfectly)
I need this configuration to void errors when a user must to change his/her password in a

Announce: Tool for replicating filesystem changes
Hello rsync-ers,
Announcing 'should', a GPLv3 tool for recording and reacting to
filesystem events that has synergies with and differences from common
rsync use cases:

Written by Claudio, it is in use at Gladserv (a hosting company,

groupmap on member server
Greetings,
My setup is a multimaster win2k domain with full trusts established. My
samba server has joined one of the master domains as a member server.
smb.conf has encrypted passwords enabled and security=domain and running
on Samba Version 3.0.1pre1 on Linux 2.4.20-20.9smp.
Groupmap seems not to work as I was expecting it to. I am trying to map

distributed queue information over several Asterisk nodes
Is it possible to distribute QUEUE information among several Asterisk nodes in a "multimaster" or "load balancing" setup?
I haven't tried this yet but if one uses realtime with a clustered multimaster database and the queue agents/members are fixed SIP channels (eg. SIP/100) then I guess that the Queue app will be able to contact the member no matter to which Asterisk node

openldap mmr + heartbeat hot standby
Hi List,
I've setup 2 openldap servers in n-way multimaster replication mode in a
test environment, both run centos 6.2,
this works well but now i'm trying to make these 2 servers failover
using heartbeat.
i've got no experience with heartbeat (or setting up clusters in
general) however from what i understand heartbeat starts/stops the
service if the server has the virtual IP

openldap package compilation flags?
Hello All.
How do I find out what flags were used to compile
the Centos openldap-2.3.27-8.el5_2.4 rpm package?
I'm specifically wondering if it was compiled with
--enable-lmpasswd
Thanks!

PDC / BDC in a Samba Domain Controller.
Hello
I makeing a Domain Controller with Samba (v3.0.33) and LDAP (v2.4).
I will install a PDC in the headquarter and a BDC in the subsidiary of
the company that I work.
The PDC and the BDC will have his own LDAP data base.
I just install the PDC without problems and my next step is to install
the BDC.
I configured the LDAP that work in multi master mode. I made some test
and the LDAP works

Samba LDAP Failover
Hi,
I have a quite "simple" setup for a particular customer that loves
redundancy and failover.
PDC + BDC with LDAP Passwords on two 389-ds in multimaster node +
several samba member servers
Actually pointing singularly on both the systems everything works great.
As soon as I modify my passdb backend line from the single form to the
form containing both backends that is

[Samba+Ldap] Samba objects missing in sync
Hello
I am implementing a authentication schema with openLdap (Multimaster), but I
have a problem with the samba objects syncronization, they are missing....
I have 1001 objects (total) in my provider(Ldap), and de slave have
932(Ldap), I was looking for the difference and I noticed that are
sambaSamAccount, sambaTrustedDomain, and certain users (nobody for example).
Do you know if there is

cluster with dsync mirror
I have an idea for running a pair of redundant dovecot mail servers
that may be odd but it might work. I'm interested in any thoughts on
the topic.
Would it work to run 'dsync mirror' every minute against either mdbox
or sdbox mailbox on a dedicated network connection between two (or
potentially three or four) mail servers? I'm trying to avoid using a
NAS/SAN or some other

SER Still recommended for large installs?
I'm reading some information that recommends using SER / OpenSER for
large installation to offload SIP traffic from the Asterisk server.

However, it looks like the information might be dated.
I'm looking at a potential 750 SIP phone and 150 Analog installation,
all internal network, PRI trunks, and am trying to nail down an

nested groups on samba 3.6 server broken
I am running a Samba 3.6.20 for my primary domain controller (+ main
file server) and my back up domain controller. Each domain controller
has an LDAP backend- the LDAP servers configured for multimaster

I have domain trusts established with a Windows 2003 AD domain

[PATCH 10/10] Fix BusLogic to stop using check_region
I got so sick of seing the check_region warnings from BusLogic.c I actually
fixed it properly. Never use check region, reserve it before the probe
with request region instead and check the error result; free region if
setup fails. Should be functionally identical to the original except for
fixing the potential race.
