Installing mSATA Solid State Drive in Dell Precision M3800
I'm considering getting a Dell Precision M3800 Mobile Workstation, would want to install my own mSATA SSD in it. Does anyone here have one of these machines? If so, is an SSD a user-installable component? And if so again, how much needs to be taken apart? Thanks much.

UEFI booting
Hi All, I received a Intel Nuc D34010WYK. nice and small. I installed 6.5 x86_64 on it in LEGACY boot mode on the mSATA disk. All worked except sound. In process of trying to get that working I saw posts about Need to not use LEGACY boot mode for HDMI sound to work. I am trying to find a document on how to use the UEFI boot on 6.5 Any great resource out there for that? Thanks, Jerry

8.2.2004 Latest yum update renders machine unbootable
I am running an Intel x64 machine using UEFI to boot an SSD. Installing the latest yum update which includes grub2 and kernel 4.18.0-193.14.2.el8_2.x86_64 renders the machine unbootable, blank screen where grub should be, no error messages, just hangs. After some hours I managed to modify another bootable partition (containing older software) and boot it from there. After that, I? found out

Resume problem with Samsung x10
Hello, I'm on a Samsung X10 laptop (2002 or so) with this video controller: VGA compatible controller : NVIDIA Corporation NV17M [GeForce4 440 Go 64M] (rev a3) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Lubuntu 16.04, LXDE, kernel 4.4.0-104 mSASA 64GB at a mSATA-IDE adaptor acting as hard disk. All works nicely exept resume from sleep. When doing suspend-to-RAM with the power button, machine powers up, but the screen will remain dark after resuming. No way to come back (brightness, F8, ctrl-alt-F1 or so). sudo pm-suspend works nicely, but after resume th...

In CentOS 8 new install, old /home, .desktop opens in gedit
...has seen this or at least knows where to look. I have been waiting around a bit to upgrade my system to CentOS 8, and actually wanted to wait on 8.2, but had an opportunity this week to actually do the work, so took the opportunity.? Here was my process: 1.) Installed CentOS 8.1.1911 on a spare mSATA SSD in my spare M6700 laptop.? Installed the RPMfusion nVidia drivers, the PowerTools repo, set up the extensions for Places, Applications, etc, and got it prepped to accept my /home disk. 2.) After complete backups, physically moved my /home disk from the CentOS 7 M6700 to the CentOS 8 M6700....

Xen on a laptop
...how this would work). 3) Wireless and networking -- I figure I would probably have a single DomU to handle networking, and passthrough my network cards to this machine - the guests would then access the network through the DomU. 4) Disk IO issues -- I will probably be getting a SSD to boot from (mSATA), and then an Intel 520 SSD to run all my machines off of. Data would be stored on a 500GB HDD in place of the optical drive. 5) Power management -- I would probably automate suspending of DomU instances when the laptop is running on battery power, though this is not a huge concern. 6) Windows Do...

Install CentOS 7 over serial port on router board ?
Hi, I have to install CentOS 7 for a client, to act as cache & filtering proxy using Squid. I'd like to use this piece of specialized hardware : http://store.calexium.com/fr/systeme-pre-assemble/869-systeme-pre-assemble-rackmatrix-apu-amd-gx-412tc-quatre-coeurs-1-ghz.html There is no VGA or HDMI video output, just a serial port to connect to, and then three NICs and two USB ports.

The Geforce 9800GT also shows different behaviour without nvidiafb in the kernel. I get lengthy messages from nouveau, like the ones found in the email attachment. It also eventually gets into the lightdm login graphical screen, but with this card the screen is highly distorted, despite the mouse cursor being properly displayed and moving around properly.
