h323.conf - Asterisk not routing incoming calls based on IP - Ignoring type=user + host= + context=
Ok, at the bottom of my h323.conf file on my 1st server I have this:
; ---------------------
[test]
type=user
host=209.237.227.185
context=termination-test
incominglimit=10
accountcode=005
; ---------------------
Using an Asterisk at the other IP, I have this:
exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(H323/${EXTEN}@64.135.11.85,,o)
This should send a call from the test-server to the IP of the 1st server;

Cisco ATA 186 and Asterisk
Anyone have call waiting working on the ATA-186 connected to Asterisk?
Other VoIP phones seem to work, but I can not get the ATAs to allow call
waiting.

How does Vonage support fax machines?
My boss is insisting we support fax, and I keep telling him that Fax over
IP is very unreliable and not recommended and his immediate come-back is
"Vonage does it." and it's very hard to figure out how.
I don't think Vonage does T.38, the Linksys/Sipura units they're using
doesn't support T.38 to my knowledge.
That means they have to be using G.711Ulaw to send faxes.

Asterisk and H323 vs OH323???
What is the difference between H323 and OH323 in Asterisk? I need Asterisk
to have basic H.323 support so we can offer some simple H323 termination
for some of our Cisco and Quintim hardware. Our upstream provider uses
SIP, so I figured I'd use Asterisk as the go-between. I already setup
Asterisk so it can push calls out through our providers via SIP. I just
need a good/solid/very simple H323

Both lines in an ATA using the same UID/PASS
I have an ATA186, a tech just told me to set UID0 and UID1 to the same
username, and PASS0 and PASS1 to the same password. In my mind, this
would seem to have the unit registering twice under the same account,
which Asterisk wouldn't support. When a call comes in, it should go to the
last line to register. So to me, this means the call could sometimes come
in on Line 1 and sometimes on Line

GUI that supports virtual PBX's/users
A friend of mine runs a small office building, 10-15 tenants. Each have
their own company, their own thing, renting space from him. His main PBX
is getting dated and his tenants are complaining. I was telling him about
Asterisk but his main concern is he doesn't want to have to always be the
one to add/remove extensions, or change the IVR hours or whatever.
Does anybody know of a free or
