Runaway MOH/mp3123 process?
Has anyone noticed a problem with runaway mpg123 processes for
music-on-hold eating up ~100% CPU and driving the load on the
machine way up?
I've seen this problem consistently with multiple Asterisk
installs, 1.2.x and 1.4.x, although admittedly it was more
common with 1.2.x as far as I can tell.
There is no clearly identifiable sequence of events that causes
this to occur, although it

No music on hold?
Hi all,
I've got Asterisk 1.2.10 up and running on Debian using the back ports.
I noticed that it didn't come with mpg123 or depend on it and I believe
I read somewhere that asterisk now handles it's own mp3 playback? Is
this true? If so I must have a problem, because I hear no music when
putting someone on hold. When looking at the console when putting
someone on hold, I see

Absolute Minimum Installation Packages
I'm trying to get the total Linux/* installation size as small as possible.
I'm wondering if anyone has looked at the installed packages list from the
Redhat installation [rpm -qa] and has parsed out all packages not needed for
* to run. I follow the custom install guide from Andy Powell but the
installation yields 948+ Meg with 340 installed packages. I'm sure most of
those packages
