vorbis winamp plugin
...urce in_vorbis.dll as well. One question. Since vorbis is open source, would it break any rules to distribute the in_vorbis.dll included with Winamp? I presume so but thought I would ask. Otherwise, I may have to ask politely for someone on this list to compile the old plugin written by Jack Moffit and Michael Smith with the latest libraries. http://svn.xiph.org/branches/segher-20010328/vorbis-plugins/winamp I'm not a C developer and I don't have a method of compiling it myself. Thanks, Ross.

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
...ecast is. To me, it's a simple, free, and open source alternative to other non-free, free but restrictred, etc streaming media servers. Others believe, I think, that it is really just a mechanism to boost the adoption of all the xiph codecs. This was evident from the very beginning when Jack Moffit added support for mp3 back into icecast2 as a "transition path to vorbis" for broadcasters. I certainly do understand their points on the matter, however, I do not share them. oddsock On 10/2/06, Ross Levis <ross@stationplaylist.com> wrote: I thought the YP code was goi...

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I thought the YP code was going to be fixed to use less resources so it could be used with other stream formats. It seems to be taking a long time. As it is now, Icecast2 is not a good solution for those wanting to be on a popular directory. I am forced to recommend using Shoutcast to my clients so they can get onto a popular directory. I would prefer to recommend Icecast2. Ross Levis.

Adding OPeNDAP to the ncdf package on windows
Hi: Russ Moffit of our Honolulu Lab has made a modification to the R netcdf package 'ncdf' so that it can access remote netcdf files using OPenDAP (http://www.opendap.org). The package works on Linux, and with help from Don MacQueen was also ported to Macintosh OS X. We have had a lot of demand for t...

what's the plans for the website :-)
...ays shoutcast streams along with > mp3 players but not with MEDIA Player. (lame a** M$). Thats one of the reasons whey people should use Icecast (Read OPEN SOURCE!). Using Icecast you actually have the posibility to get all those mediaplayers out there working with those fucked up players. Jack moffit the author of icecast actually did some work on Icecast to get realplayer,WMP, and all the other players out there to work with it. Go read the code in client.c and tune it to your fit your needs ;-) Ive said it before and ill say it again Icecast Rocks!!!! -- Venlig hilsen/Kind regards Thomas K...

Full analysis of the remotely exploitable icecast 1.3.x bugs
Hello Icecast folks, Attached is an analysis I slapped together detailing the exact specifics of the bug that is exploited with the icecast exploit I disclosed earlier this week. Furthermore it details another remotely exploitable bug. I sent this to team@icecast.org and to Jack Moffit, but have not received a response as of yet. So if people, like I noticed in the icecast@xiph.org list, are weary off applying the temporary greater than 8000 bytes string check patch to client.c (which makes sure you have a 192 byte buffer left for your server hostname and stream port..and wou...

mp3pro and the mp3 streaming license
Fraunhofer and Thomson Multimedia release their new mp3pro codec and new licenseconditions for streaming mp3 : http://www.techreview.com/web/kiang/kiang060701.asp My comment is that the licensecharge isnt frighting compared to what we broadcaster pays in musicroyalties allready. Is this what you feared jack? :) -- Venlig hilsen/Kind regards Thomas Kirk ARKENA thomas@arkena.com

what's the plans for the website :-)
was: [icecast] what's happening here? <p>The list doesn't seem any more stagnant than the website ;-) Seriously, the lack of current news on the website must have a turning-away effect for curious folks checking www.iccast.org out. There's a recent post from 18 days ago, but there was a "no news" dry spell between August 7 2001 and April 10 2002! During this time I
