Additional autoconf test for linuxppc/mklinux
I am attaching a patch to R-0.63's configure.in file which will enable R to detect and use some special math libraries on linuxppc and mklinux. The patch provides tests for these libraries and enable/disable switches for them as well. One library is the libmoto math library which must be used in conjunction with libm (it only replaces some of libm's functions). The other is a RISC optimized BLAS library, libblas_risc, which must be...

smbmount vs linux
In trying to install samba 2.0.6 on my mklinux system, I'm running into a lot of compiler messages about redifinitions while compiling any of the smbfs utils. The current state of mklinux is back several versions from the "regular" linux kernel, but is using glibc2.1. I understand smbsh is the preferred way to go instead of smbfs...

R on MkLinux DR3
Hi, Maybe somebody could help me with my problem installing R on my PowerBook G3/292 with MkLinux DR3 installed on the internal HD: When installing R with rpm -Uhv R-base-0.63-3.ppc.rpm I got the following message: /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.47537: [: !=: unary operator expected /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.47537: /bin/R: no such file or directory execution of script failed error: R-base-0.63-3....

R-beta: Mac
While it is good to have R on my local Unix box it would be wonderful to have a recent version to run on my (Mac) Powerbook. I know that the PowerMac version is on hold so (1) Any idea when it might appear (2) Any chance of a bit more functional Mac version G.Janacek Maths UEA -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read

hdf5 config test in R-0.63.2
I just tried to build R-0.63.2 on my mklinux machine and noticed a problem with the configure script. First, configure tests for the library libhdf5, then it tests for the libz library. Since libhdf5 depends on libz, the libhdf5 test fails even when it is present. Later in the configuration script, there is a test for hdf5.h. If this fil...

isolinux issues - only sometimes booting
till last week everything was fine, our cds with isolinux and created with mklinux worked fine. but suddenly our build system fails, the cds don't boot anymore, or more precisely: they do boot in vmware and on several new machines we have, but on lots of other, older machines they suddenly stopped working. we didn't change our scripts, and syslinux and mkisofs is still t...

IPv6 broken on Linode
...t thing Red Hat ever did. Sorry for the tone, I'm quite frustrated and as an epileptic who doesn't drive, driving down to the SF Bay Area for RHCE classes that won't even be applicable in a few years when they change stuff again isn't really an option. Been using Red Hat since MKLinux DR3 (based on Red Hat 5.1) and been through the training courses before and everything changes. Anyone know what might be going on? And how to get dhclient to grab the "right" IPv6 address, the same one this VM grabbed no problem for well over a year?

Ogg Vorbis on PPC Linux?
I work for Terra Soft Solutions (makers of Yellow Dog Linux) and I'm trying to compile the latest cvs snapshot for inclusion in our next release, but I'm running into some problems... I'm using modified versions of the SRPMs included in RedHat's Rawhide distro (I only updated to the latest cvs, but the old version also experienced this problem), which compile fine on an x86 box I

esd bug in ogg123
I've run into two problems with ogg123 that appears only when using the esound driver. Case 1: pops in output Audible pops, especially at low volume. Original mp3 file does not exhibit these pops, nor does oss output from ogg123, nor does esd output from mpg123. Things ruled out: disk speed - the HD is ATA/33 with DMA on. It's a single user
