Regarding Static website generator [GSOC Docs-toolchain]
Hi,
Lei and I have been working on the project, based on community input. We
have implemented two way sync between github and pagure as suggest by many.
Now we want build the site and display it to user. There are number of
options mkdocs, hugo(docker uses it now) etc.
There are pros and cons to each site generator. To use hugo, we need the
user to have hugo installed too, and than he needs to run hugo command to
create a new file, which is big con.
Mkdocs is great too, but little inflexible we found.
Any suggestions on which too...

Regarding Static website generator [GSOC Docs-toolchain]
...constraint is that the site generator should require minimal human effort,
as we plan to build the site continuously through CI, so the new content
should automatically be indexed, added to navigation panels, content
directory etc.
Coming to existing site generators, we looked at Jekyll, Hugo and Mkdocs.
Hugo - very flexible, great tool but complicated. User needs hugo installed
to contribute. Docker uses this, switching from mkdocs.
Mkdocs - Not very flexible, but very friendly. User needs to create doc in
mardown, add the link in another file and done!
Jekyll -- very blog specific, which we d...

Gluster documentation search
Hello folks,
I spend some time today mucking about trying to figure out how to make our
documentation search a better experience. The short answer is, search kind
of works now.
Long answer: mkdocs creates a client side file which is used for search.
RTD overrides this by referring people to Elasticsearch. However, that
doesn't clear out stale entries and we're plagued with a whole lot of stale
entries. I've made some changes that other consumers of RTD have done to
override our s...

That's what I fear too. A wiki is something that has to be edited live,
and be quick/fast.
Git-based doc is probably something more formalized and for tech writers
having to maintain an "official" doc.
I (in the past) had a look at http://www.mkdocs.org/ for this (and so
all the .md can be in a public git repo that people can submit PR to)
While personally I don't mind switching to something using git in the
workflow, I'm wondering if such tool shouldn't be used instead to target
"official" docs under centos.org/docs and...

This is an interesting idea. We'll end up wanting docs to build in the
CI anyway, so this could be done using e.g. a -draft tag so an initial
commit can be used to both build
