Bug in predict function for naiveBayes?
...artificial dataset, but I
have troubles getting the predict function to work with the type="class"
specification. With type= "raw", it works perfectly, but with type="class" I
get following error :
Error in as.vector(x, mode) : invalid 'mode' argument
Data : mixture.train is a training set with 100 points originating from 2
multivariate gaussian distributions (class 0 and class 1), with X1 and X2 as
coordinates in a 2-dimensional space. Mixture.test is a grid going from -15
to +15 in both dimensions. Stupid data, but it's just to test.

Hello!
I am new to R (before used python exclusively and would actually call the R solution for this issue inside a python notebook, hope that doesn?t disqualify me right of the batch).
Right now I am looking for a piece of software to fit a 1D data sample to a mixture of t-distributions.
I searched quite a while already and it seems to be that this is a somehwat obscure endeavor as most search results turn up for mixture of gaussians (what I am not interested here).
The most promising candidates so far are the "AdMit" and "MitSEM" R packag...

Can anyone provide a package or code for estimating the parameters of a
mixture of c (c >=2) univariate normal distributions?
I've tried the algorithm provided by Venables & Ripley (1999) p 263, for
the mixture of two normal, but I don't find the "ms" function in R. I've

Skewness of fitted mixture not correct?
I fitted a gaussian mixture to my financial data. The data can be found

Finally, I've found a way to separate the mixture of distributions
(empirically). But the gamlss package looks great, I'm sure it will help

Fitting Mixture of Non-Central Student's t Distributions
Dear all,
I am attempting to model some one-dimensional data using a mixture model
of non-central Student's t distributions. However, I haven't been able
to find any R package that provides this functionality.
Could there be a way to "manipulate" the EM algorithms from the mixdist

Offlist, because this is (a) an opinion and (b) about statistics and
therefore offtopic.
I don't know whether any such package exists, but I would predict that
this is likely to be overdetermined (too many parameters) and
therefore unlikely to be a successful strategy. Fitting a mixture of
Gaussians is already difficult enough.
Feel free to ignore, of course, and no need to reply.

Is there any package that I can use to simulate the Gaussian
Mixture Model , which is a mixture modeling method that is widely used

Hi,
I wonder if the function "density" outputs the gaussian mixture formula
that is estimated from the input data, assuming a gaussian model is used
at each data point ? I want to take the derivative of the finally
estimated gaussian mixture formula for further analysis.

usually sample variates from both distributions and weight them with their

How to obtain parameters of a mixture model of two lognormal distributions
Dear List,
I have read that a lognormal mixture model having a pdf of the form
f(x)=w1*f1(x)+(1-w1)*f2(x) fits most data sets quite well, where f1
and f2 are lognormal distributions.
Any pointers on how to create a function that would produce the 5
