syslinux-5.xx+ modules' ELF files may be mistreated as system DSO
Hi!
Nowadays Syslinux uses regular dynamically linked ELF files as it's
modules:
[...]
com32: Switched from the COM32 object format to ELF as it is a much more
powerful format that allows undefined symbols to be resolved at runtime
and dynamic loading of module dependencies, which means modules now
become shared object files instead of statically linked binaries -
reducing both disk space

I feel what you have written here to be offensive to the highest degree,
and your words make me feel unsafe when contemplating their effect on my
prospects for future interaction with this community.

Compiz Release Announcement - 0.8.10
Hi all, I finally got around to producing an 0.8.10 release. Here are the
details, which are also posted on my blog <http://blog.northfield.ws>.
It took a bit of setup and cook time but compiz 0.8.10 tarballs are ready
now including addons-experimental plugin package. Anyone who has installed
compiz before knows it can be confusing so here, I will focus on installing

feedback on grandstream budgetone
Hi everyone.
I see many posts complaining about Grandstream equipment, so I thought I
tell the other side of the story as well.
We use Grandstream Budgetone 101 phones in our office and they work
extremely well.
We have no echo, no crashes, no sudden resets, they "just work".
We provision them using TFTP.
Our asterisk box has 2 HFCPCI ISDN BRI cards.
It's running asterisk 1.2.0 on

It seems it is their policy not to answer.
FYI info I tried to get an account with them a week ago. I did not get
any information how to setup, just that they cashed my credit card.
Several calls to them

For or Against
As a librarian and a father, I have both a professional and
a parental interest in democracy and access to information.
In addition to democracy, libraries and education are related
to other concerns. For example, our physical and mental
health is critical to our ability to learn and to process
information fully.
Suppose a worldwide referendum was held on a proposal for

Icedove (Thunderbird) crashes when reading IMAP messages
This is a Debian lenny/sid installation. Dovecot has been installed on
it for over a year, with no problems. Lately (i.e. the past few
months), if I attempt to read a message, Icedove crashes. It does not
do this when I read a message downloaded from the ISP's POP3 server (not
that I do this very often - almost all my mail goes through Dovecot).
I am now having to read email with

Vonage a provider?
I am new to the mailing list, but I am very interested in running my small
home business office phone system using Asterisk. However, Broadvoice, a
VoIP provider of choice based on my research, is not available in my area.
I currently use Vonage VoIP. Their website mentions nothing about being
able to link to Asterisk. I was wondering if any US subscribers have been
able to configure Vonage
