AcroRead failing miserably in CentOS 5.0
I could swear that this was working just last week, but now when I run
the Adobe Acrobat reader, it hangs. If I run it "directly"
(/usr/bin/acroread) with -DEBUG as the first argument, I get an
infinite loop of:
expr: syntax error
I tried removing and reinstalling it, but no change.
Any ideas?

miserable time with Cisco ATA186
I'm having a horrible experience getting a Cisco ATA-186 to work with *.
I can make calls from the ATA with no problems. However, incoming calls
make the ATA ring once, and then the call is disconnected. I have no
problems with my Sipura 2000 or my Grandstream phones.
I am running 2.16.1 sip code on the ATA 186. Neither * nor the ATA is
behind a NAT. They are both on public IP addresses

PRoblem with paste function
I am having trouble with paste function. I dont know how to proceed. I tried
many options but i failed miserably.
I am using a variable f1 to assign a string as below:
f1=dataLine[locAffyProbeID];
( the value of f1 is 244901_at )
Then I am using the paste function
paste("set @g1=", f1);
instead of getting set at g1=244901_at, I am getting set @g1=23.
I am not able to understand

Desynced DC
Hi list,
We use samba 4.1.17 (debian's version) on several DCs. I just realized
that one of them is desynced and cannot get it to resync.
The long story: we got 5 DCs splitted over several sites. Recently we
had to replace one of them (let's call him DC5). Since both had to run
in parallel for data recovery/users work we decided to join a brand new
DC (DC6) and latter demote the

Still trying to make nut work, failing miserably
Greetings Charles;
Following the chapter 6, configuration notes, and having configured
everything I had done previously in the repo built /etc/nut directory
without any success previously, I found when trying:
/usr/local/ups/upsdvrctl start,
It reported it couldn't open /usr/local/ups/etc/ups.conf
So I copied what I had done before to that path by mv'ing them with mc.
Then I checked

graphics site
About six months ago there was a reference to a site (in french) that
did a spectacular job of demonstrating R's graphical capabilities.
My bookmarks were recently wiped and I cannot find this site despite my
best googling.
Anyone have the address which I have done a miserable job describing?
Thanks.

Tripwire and cron
I am trying to get tripwire 1.2 patch level 2 on Redhat 6.2 to run out
of cron and so far have failed miserably.
It runs fine from the command line so I know my configuration is ok, but
when it runs from cron it gets to Phase 3 and simply exits. It doesn''t
generate any error messages or leave any core files laying around.

Routing help
Hi,
I need a help on Linux routing, if you have some sparse time. I''m based
in Madagascar and my English is not good; so please forgive me.
*What I want to come-up with:
*My main goal is to download using two modems at the same time, and
combining their bandwidth, but I have failed miserably. The reason is
this: our country is still using poor slow internets, and I have seen on

Darwin Build (cvs)
Oops, I apologize for my short, breif message that didn't even include
what I said it should inlcude =).
Here's the deal: OpenDarwin 6.6 (closest relative being Mac OS X
10.2.6) won't build from CVS. Specifically libtoolize doesn't seem to
exist (does it even come with libtool?) and the other parts of the
"autogen.sh" fail miserably.

Miserable read performance (factor ~60 too slow)
Hi,
I am trying to migrate my files from a Windows XP Pro box to a new
server running OpenSuSE 10.2/Linux 2.6.18 (x86_64) and Samba 3.0.25b.
The Server is a new Athlon 64 X2 4000+/1GB with two 400GB SATA disks in
a software RAID1 configuration. The share file system is reiserfs on a
350GB RAID1 partition.
I have a small LAN with three PCs on 100MBit Ethernet and a Laptop on

Move existing Local Profile to Roaming
Hello:
I have a Redhat 7.3 samba server acting as a PDC and running samba
2.2.3a-13.
I have a few computers with extensive existing profiles and I want to know
if anyone knows of a good way to get the COMPLETE profile to the roaming
profile on the samba server. Every manual copy way that I have tried thus
far has failed miserably.
Thanks,

Compile help for Solaris 10 x86, samba 3.0.28a deficient?
Hi all,
I've got an ongoing battle with samba shipped with Sun Solaris 10 in
it's current form (Samba version 3.0.28a) not wanting to talk to my
OpenLDAP master correctly. Essentially, under certain conditions, this
behaviour is observed, in the log.smbd:

Xen 3.0.4
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I read in a message of december that packages of Xen 3.0.4 are expected
in experimental by the end of Jan.
Actually I didn't find anything in experimental. Since all my tries to
create a kernel with xen 3.0.4 failed miserably with compiler errors.
I had success only with the utilities packages, but I'm not even sure
that they work.
Is there

returning strings to R from C functions
I'm using .C() and .External() and have no problems sending integers,
reals or strings from R to C. Nor do I have problems sending integers
or reals back from C to R. But I'm pulling my hair out trying to set
a string value in a C function and then sending it back from C to to
R. I've searched the usual sources and tried various casts, macros
and allocation schemes, but I'm
