rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at rsync.c, using --iconv=. and (code 2) and rsync-3.0.0pre8
Dear List,
Running rsync on our intradisk Xscale Arm BigEndian MiniServer (NAS)
System is causing some problems running
on special character files and crashing.
Rsync is syncing running on a mounted samba share, syncing to the local
disk. It is started with the parameters
--iconv=. what I suggest is the solution for syncing the attached file.

Script for Stackdepth by Thread/LWP?
I''m interested in monitoring the amount of stack used by a multi-threaded program. I assume ''stackdepth'' built-in would be useful...but not sure. Been through demo''s, ToolKit, and internals..but it''s just not clicking for me yet.
Not sure how to measure start/end of stack size dynamically...Anyone know how to break this down?

Virus Question
Hi, the Wine program seems great. I run Eudora in WinXP, and this program
will enable me to run Eudora in Fedora 3 and use the same mailboxes via
Captive-NTFS - and so I will always have my email up-to-date.
I have one big concern: viruses. Is it possible for me to get infected
with a virus using Wine? If I got infected, how well could the virus
infect my system? Meaning, I plan to

editing bind (DNS) configuration under CentOS 6
Hello listmates,
It appears that system-config-bind has been phased out. Whatever the
reasoning was behind that decision - what are we expected to do now? Edit
it manually? That is doable, of course, but kind of cumbersome. Does
anybody know if there is a tool we are expected to use for that purpose?
Thanks.
Boris.

Updated kvm kernael and now some guests are hung
...em hung when I
tried to run the vi editor.
The console display on each of the affected guests shows a
long list of hung tasks:
task jbd2/dm-0-0:384 blocked for more than 120 seconds
. . .
task jbd2/dm-3-8:838 blocked for more than 120 seconfs
task master:1226 blocked for more than . . .
task miniserv.pl:1248 blocked
task pickup:29136 blocked
The lists on each guest vary somewhat but share most of
the same processes being blocked. One has a postmaster
task that does not display on any of the others.
I can recover from this but I want to get these guests
restarted if I possibly can. Is there...

SELinux question - to fix bug in Webmin
I found a bug in Webmin when using Webmin with SELinux in Permissive
Mode. The author of Webmin, asked me, in their bug tracker on
SourceForge:

centos5 iptables expert needed
Hello,
I'm setting up a centos5 router for a friend. It will direct traffic to
an internal webserver, already in place, as well as run squid proxy. It
should do nat and have a firewall with iptables. I've set up routers before
for this purpose but always of the bsd type and using their firewalls. I
understand the concepts, nat, packet filtering, etc. but i'm not getting

I appear to be attacking others
It looks like my CentOS 4.2 box is attacking other people with some type
of ftp attack. I got an email from somebody saying they were being
attacked by my IP address.
Further investigation /var/log/messages shows a whole bunch of sshd
attacks on me, none of which appear successful. I'm running ethereal
right now and I can see that my system is doing some kind of ftp attacks
on others.

bcmxcp_usb can not communicate with Eaton Powerware 5110
Hi,
I have set up a RaspberryPi computer to do monitoring of two UPSs. One
is an MGE evolution 800, one is an Eaton Powerware 5110. The MGE was
being monitored by another Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) computer, and I just
copied and pasted in the relevant nut config and it works just fine with
nut.
I've tried to set up the Powerware 5110 with nut, and the bcmxcp_usb
driver can't communicate
