Milliwatt Test Number List
Hello: Does anyone know of a list of milliwatt test numbers for debugging echo? Specifically I am looking for a milliwatt test number in Canada, preferrably in a 416 or 905 NPA exchange....different carriers would also be nice....ie. Bell Canada, GT, Sprint (Now Rogers Telecom) I called Rogers NOC and asked them for the milliwatt test numbe...

Milliwatt Analyzer available
Hi, some days ago we discused here the need for an analyzer for the 1000 Hz tone, as opposite application to Milliwatt. Here it is: Mwanalyze http://planinternet.net/download/voip/asterisk/app_mwanalyze.c It performs a Fourier analysis for a fixed frequency and tells the amplitude. The frequency is not limited to 1000 Hz, but can be passed as argument. The periode duration must be a mulitple of 0.5 ms, thus the...

Effectively using a telco Type 102 Milliwatt Test line with ztmon itor -v to set txgain/rxgain in zapata?
I am trying to obtain optimum gain settings for a bank of analog lines connected to a channel bank. My telco has provided a 'Type 102' test line to use for incoming level calibration. This is functionally equivalent to app Milliwatt(), but provides tone from the CO inwards. Question is, how should one use this a 0dbm test source with ztmonitor? Am I correct in understanding that a 0dbm level should provide a 100% drive in the level monitor, not a 50% drive as is otherwise 'optimum' for regular voice traffic? Kris Bo...

Calibrating both RX and TX gain?
..., the audio is relatively quiet. I'm also getting echo on these lines, so I have turned the txgain down as low as I can and still be heard. Right now, it's at -6, but it will have to come up some because that is too quiet. But I still have echo. I am in the middle of trying to get a milliwatt test line to calibrate the rxgain properly. However, this won't help me with the txgain, will it? How can I properly calibrate the txgain? By ear? Or is there a more scientific method? For example, once I have the rxgain calibrated for all of the lines, could I then call into, say, Zap/...

Adjusting gain, Milliwatt and ztmonitor
...://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html I have a PSTN and VoIP (SIP) connection via *. I disabled all echo cancel/training in zapata.conf and set tx/rxgain to 0. I then changed my extensions.conf so that when I call the VoIP line from the PSTN line, it plays the Milliwatt application tone. However, when I call, I don't hear the tone and ztmonitor doesn't change at all. What could be the problem? I am running the latest svn source, Aastra 9133i sip phone and Digium TDM11B. BTW - My PSTN is thru Verizon (MA) and I don't have their test tone #. If...

Analyzer for Milliwatt
Hi, app_milliwatt is a nice tool for a quick check of the line quality. Anyway, hearing to that tone for more than a minute is painful. Does anyone know the "opposite" application, i.e. an application, that "hears" and listens for a 1000 Hz tone and displays the quality in any unit? If not, I&...

PSTN line quality
...600 and 750 and I spent a lot of time on the phone with Adtran trying to work out the problem. We are getting hum and noise and very low volume on calls. I can increase the gain in zapata.conf but that increases the echo also. I acquired a Line Test Set and talked to the telco about access to a MilliWatt generator. They did not have one active, but they worked on it and activated the MilliWatt Generator on the exchange for me. I measured my lines and also the lines at another location I am having the same problem. The line levels were -20dbm at my office and -21.4dbm at the other location. My qu...

Test Line
Hi, Somewhere in the Wiki I read that the best way to adjust the rxgain and txgain is to dial a "type 102 milliwatt test line". This line is usually found in xxx-958-nnnn or xxx-959-nnnn ranges. I'm in area code 323 in Los Angeles. Does anybody know the test number here?? Thanks, -N

Echo/Milliwatt Test Numbers in Oz ?
Is anyone aware of an milliwat/echo test number for telstra or similar? I want to fiddle a bit with gains but can't seem to get a hold of a miliwatt test number Im aware of a number they distribute for line quality testing for modems for BigPond, but I can't track it down .... -- Adrian Carter Technical Manager Leading Edge Internet Web http://www.lei.net.au http://support.lei.net.au

tuning an x100p in Australia for echo cancellation
I have an x100p which suffers from echo (no surprise there apparantly :), and a few of the things I've read about tuning out echo say the first thing to get right is the tx and rx gain, and for that you need a few different types of test lines from the telco (Telstra, Optus, whatever). Does anyone have any numbers in Australia for such lines? I think they just need to send out a tone of a

Problem with Wait() and chan_capi-cm?
...xten => 12345,2,VoiceMail(su12345) exten => 12345,102,Wait(30) exten => 12345,103,VoiceMail(su12345) But Asterisk can not take over the line after the wait. To test, if the Wait was the problem, I created this: exten => 12345,1,Wait(10) exten => 12345,2,Answer() exten => 12345,3,Milliwatt() And still: Asterisk can't take over the ISDN line. The console output says: == ISDN1: Incoming call '12345' -> '12345' -- Executing Wait("CAPI/ISDN1/12345-19", "10") in new stack -- Executing Answer("CAPI/ISDN1/12345-19", "&quot...

Does asterisk have a way in the dialplan to generate tones? Say I want to play a tone 300Hz for 3 seconds. Can I do that? If not, can I use some system command to generate the wav file then just have asterisk play it? Jerry

How to 'read' ztmonitor and set gains
Being one the many people trying to track down echo 'ghosts' I ran across this page: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html suggesting ways to adjust the gain. I have a TDM400P 2x2 config with Kewlstart lines configured. I've located a local telco milliwatt test line, and when I call it, the gain numbers are no where near 14844. Now, this article refers to configuration with a channel bank, but suggests it would be similar on 'simpler equipment'. The numbers I get are around 4450 on the Rx. Type 102 Millwatt Test Line
Does anybody know a "type 102 milliwatt test number" that I can dial in the USA? I need this in order to configure my "rxgain" and "txgain". My analog line provider, AT&T Repair Center was so confuse, when called them. Thanks in advance. -John _____________________________________________________________...

sangoma card rx/tx gain level
...ey Guys! We had echo issue before so we replaced old PRI card with Sangoma A102D HWEC. Now my question is i set rx/txgain level 0.0 default do i need to touch this value or default is best. I have read on google and people say it should around 14844 on ztmonitor for rx/tx level same. I just use milliwatt and test my default 0.0 rx/tx level and it come around 4600. Do you think i need to make it around 14844 ? -S -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... PRI echo issues: solvable?
...k-users/2004-November/071301.html - Is the difference between 14500 and 14844 big enough to worry about? If my gain settings are incorrect, am I going to be seeing quantitative values a few hundred away, or ten thousand away (for example)? - Is gain tuning effective using CO or asterisk-local milliwatt sources useful on a PRI line? Presumably, the path to the local CO's milliwatt line is all digital, and the loopback path to call our own internal milliwatt source will almost definitely be all digital, so where would the loss come from? - Assuming gains are tuned correctly, or don'...

Intel 536ep as a FXO?
Hi, I've seen some reports about ruuning Intel modem with 537 or MD3200 chipset running with Zaptel drivers as a FXO port. Did anybody managed to set up a PCI faxmodem based on Intel536ep chipset to work with * and Zaptel drivers? Modem seemd to work just fine with Linux, but the driver says no;) some more info: Linux 2.4.26 mazuchna:~# cat /proc/pci | grep 536 Communication

Lather, rinse, > repeat to get to your goal. > We started the 500 calls and used milliwatt app on the first and record on the second host to check the quality. Alternatively just start 500+ calls and call yourself on top. So you can get a good idea how the quality is.
