Question about pxelinux and gpxelinux
...ot see PXE client request option 208/209/210/211, although I am sure I configured these syslinux-DHCP option on my DHCP Server. Why? I searched the google and official web site, all examples are using a linux-DHCP Server. I am not familiar with linux, and I am not sure if my issue is related to my Micrsoft-DHCP Server. It's appreciated if you can help me out. Thanks in advanced.

Bounding or constraining parameters in non-linear regressions
...ot a statistician, my desired course of action may either be impossible or very simple. I am attempting to fit a non-linear model to some measured data. One term in the model contains a square-root, but in the course of regression, this term turns negative and an error occurs. I started using Micrsoft's Excel Solver, and then I turned to NIST's Datplot statistical package. I can constrain in Solver, but it violates those constraints. :) Dataplot does not have the capability to constrain parameters. Does R have the capability to constrain or bound parameters in non-linear regressio...

ntdll error msg
Hello, I'm a newbie to wine. I've installed codeweavers-wine-20010305-1.i386.rpm to Redhat Linux 6.2; Windows version is win98. I've tested the wine install and can run sol.exe, micrsoft office apps, and a Pegasus Email client just fine. The main purpose of installing wine is to run an EDI windows client server application - Gentran Server 5.2.1.04. I need the Gentran client daily and do not to convert back to Windows OS. I changed directories to /c/Gentran and run "wine m...

Samba AD PDC , LDAP and Single-Sign-On
...PO rant to Rowland). I used the Slackware as-shipped Samba4, provisioned (with BIND9_FLATFILE), added users with RSAT ADUC and Win7 domain users were none the wiser, everything just worked: redirected folders, RDC, SLQ Server "Windows Authentication", etc. Good job! My quest to replace Micrsoft continues ... For my immediate need, I'd like someone to give me the proverial "fish" and I'll "learn to fish" later. Given that my AD domain users are group 100, and the AD users UID range is 3000000-3000099, what should my idmap config settings look like in the wiki-a...

Novell DHCP and Pxelinux
Hello Friends, once more. We got pxelinux run with win 2000 dhcp. It works really fine. there a not problems at all. Now we want to get it run also under novell, but we want to use the novell dhcp, we don't need the tftpd from novell, we want to use a tfptd on another machine (a simple micrsoft tfptd). As we found out, novell does not support the dhcp options (67 = bootserver, 68 = bootfile), But novell has a build in functionality for booting from images. So we activated this option (on the dhcp) for our test subnet and specified the bootserver ip and name the the bootfile (from our ms-...

...twork administrators is often to create and use a centralized identity management system. It is often assumed that such a centralized system will use a single authentication infrastructure that can be used by all information systems. The Microsoft Windows NT4 security domain architecture and the -Micrsoft active directory service are often put forward as the ideal foundation for such a system. Two questions
Hi All, I have the following questions: We have some folders / shares where we store for example only .doc files. But some users also saves the .jpg files in this share. We don't want this and we wondered if we can block saving .jpg files with samba. Is there an option to set in smb.conf so we can block the saving of .jpg files? Second one: Some users saves the .doc files for example as

Maybe this is not an answerable question, but why is it picking those GID/UIDs? Why is it not

off-topic question: Latex and R in industries
Latex and R are really cool stuff. I am just wondering how they are used in industry. But based on my own experience, very rare. Why? How about the opinion of other listers? Thanks.
