lattice dotplot and graphic devices on Windows
I am using R1.4.0 on WindowsNT (the precompiled version from Brian Ripley's
website) and the lattice package (version details are at the end of this
message).
After producing a lattice dotplot, I want to insert the graph into a
MicrosoftWord document. With "ordinary" R-graphics, I have done this
successfully by copying the graph as a metafile to the clipboard and pasting
this into my word document.
However, when trying to do the same with a lattice plot, I encountered some
problems:

v2.0.6 problem with unique mktemp() file names for printer spooling files...
...our for samba is to spool printed files with unique
names, like USER1.FG2HTu in the spooling directory. My samba (version
2.0.6 on a Linux 2.2.10, Suse 6.2) does this correctly if the filename
from windows has only uppercase letters. But in any other case, no
unique filename is created, for example MicrosoftWord-test.doc. This is
very dangerous, because obviously the file can be overwritten by another
print job which uses the same file name. This occurs even before the
printer command from smb.conf is executed, so there is no chance to
handle print jobs savely on my system...
Is this a bug or did I someth...

I recently upgraded to samba 2.2.0 on my linux 2.2.14 printer server. On my
old version on samba, the spool names seen both from what you get with an
lpq command and also what you see in windows seemed to be determined by the
application printing. MicrosoftWord-Document1 for example. Now, samba is
naming all the spool files smbprn.1, smbprn.2... I've looked around
everywhere, but I can't seem to find an answer. Any ideas?
