Mailman - searchable archive
Mailman works well for our mailing lists, but the archive is
unacceptable - the worst thing is lack of search function.
I got one tip for this:
1) emails converted to html format with mhonarc
2) search can be done with htdig
Opinions? Maybe there are better software solutions for this - I hope.

ANNOUNCE: alternate mail archive site
...ing list software samba.org
uses. There's a lot of reasons, most having to do with header
rewriting, but that's not the point of this message.
One thing I don't like is its list archive feature. The archives are
hard to navigate, and the threading is atrocious. I'm accustomed to
MHonArc-generated archives, like they use at debian.org and
kernelnotes.org. Call me a bigot but I can't figure out why the rest
of the world hasn't switched to MHonArc yet. (:
So, for those times when I must browse archives rather than using my
MUA, I finally got around to setting up a MHonArc s...

omega and "text/x-mail" support
Hi,
I would like to add "text/x-mail" support to omega. I'm using mhonarc to
export mail to HTML format and I'm using HTML parse to index mail
content (largely inspired by "application/vnd.ms-outlook" format).
The problem is that files attached to the mail are not indexing at all.
I think it's not possible in "index_file" function to index 2...

Pls include Message-Id hdrs!! (Re: alternate mail archive)
Please include all the relevant headers in any mailing list archives you
set up.
Specifically:
- From
- To
- Cc
- Date
- Subject
- Message-Id
- Reply-To
- Followups-To
and so on. The From/To/Cc headers are not absolutely necessary, but the
others are.
This is necessary so that those of us who don't subscribe to the list
can actually reply correctly to mails posted to the list.

I have only just subscribed to this mailing list, so apologies if I have
missed any discussion on this topic. A MHonArc conversion of rsync.mbox
(from rsync.samba.org) suggests I have. The 'patch' that has been
mentioned, does it relate to this? If so, has it been applied to the
source available at: rsync.samba.org? Else, how can I get hold of it
and apply it?

LDAP, sieve, and virtual users
...nice if I could create a web interface somewhere which could
generate basic filters from templates and store their sieve filters in
LDAP so I didn't have to deal with somehow writing to files in their
virtual home dirs on the mail server. I have found old conversations
such as:
http://www.mhonarc.org/archive/html/ietf-mta-filters/1999-06/msg00000.html
but do not see where any standard way of doing this has come about. Or
really even any implementations at all of sieve stored in LDAP.
Thanks!

Xen network problem
...). (Centos 5.4 currently).
Currently, I am running 2 domUs. One with 4 CPUs and another with 2. 2
remain unused. I am using routed networking.
On the one machine with 4 CPU's, there is a cronjob at 4am which
utilizes the CPU/disk pretty heavily. It is rebuilds a mailing list
archive (using MHonarc) and rebuilds a search engine index (swish-e). I
dont think it uses more than 1 CPU though because the index rebuilding
is not multi threaded, as far as I know.
This cron runs at 4am each day and takes about 7 minutes. My ISP is
telling me that their alarms are going off because they cannot pin...

[ADMIN] MASSIVE LIST CHANGES
...to end users:
1) The Web interface will be in a different location:
http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo
2) Since the site is integrated with www.redhat.com the pages have
been changed to match the look and feel of the website.
3) The archiving will be changed from the default Pipermail to MHonArc
Some of the larger lists will have ALL users purged and resubscribed. This
will change your list settings to the default settings. This is due to some
configuration problems our previous server had. If this affects you, you
will receive a welcome message.

Dovecot Virtual Users & Sendmail
Not directly Dovecot, but a configuration problem.
We have a working set-up with Dovecot+Procmail+Sendmail, using
POP-before-SMTP. We want to be able to offer email accounts to some
local schools, using SquirrelMail (keeps their costs & maintenance
down). The whole arrangement is working, but we don't want to have to
have 300+ School children as users of our
