Gain control
How are people doing gain control, out of curiosity? I know boxes exist (anyone have names and mfrs?) that ride the gain for big radio stations, ensuring that there is no distortion and raising the volume of songs recorded at a lower volume. I'd probably buy one if I knew what to buy. ------ Dave Hayes - Consultant - Altadena CA, USA - dave@jetcafe.org Now Playing at: http://music.jetcafe.o...

Recommended UPS to buy for use with NUT?
I am running a home box (600watt total load, may expand to 800-900) and I need a UPS that can sustain power to that for at least 20 min, but I want as much time as I can get. Does anyone on the list have a similar setup with a UPS that was easy to set up with NUT? Generally speaking, what mfrs. and models are very well supported? Which should I avoid at all costs? I know this seems like something that would be in the archives, but my searches thus far have been fruitless. Thanks in advance! --Clay

Important regression in usbhid-ups (r1113)
...utdown *and* delay.start does only set the latter. It results in an immediate UPS poweroff... The same applies to shutdown.return. And shutdown.stop should clear both shutdown and start delay to be sure. The reason I previously kept the subdrv delegation (apart from the lack of visibility on other mfrs implementation) was the same as Arjen comment: the var. and cmd dealing with shutdown clearly have to be reworked since we have not a 1 to 1 mapping here. This has made its way into 2.2.1 only (r1127) and the trunk (since r1113). The fix will obviously have to go into 2.2.2, and the best would be...

Re: about [ #302111 ] newhidups support for Belkin
...could not figure out how to do that, so I left the variable ups.serial.internal, and a "FIXME" comment, for the time being. > - why did you remove the restriction on Belkin ProductID > > (dev->descriptor.idProduct == 0x0551) > > It's not useful for UPS only mfrs, but belkin also sells other devices... My Belkin UPS has product ID 0x0980. It seems silly to start making a long list of Belkin UPS products, because every user would have to email us their product ID before their device could be supported. A better strategy seems to support all Belkin devices....

Q about UPS features / NUT support
Hi, I have several Linux machines at home and I'm considering buying a UPS for them. I see that many models are supported by NUT (great!) but since I'm new to the UPS world I have some questions about UPS features and NUT support of them I couldn't find an answer for: 1/ are there UPS models who report/meter power usage through USB? per UPS socket or globally? 2/ are there UPS models
