How do I emulate directory structure with routes?
I''ve got something that I''m not sure is actually doable. I have a very complex model relationship with a lot of parent/child/grandchild/ greatgrandchild etc stuff going on. Is there a way to do a route like this? tld.com/ projects/:project_name/:sequence_acronym/:shot_number/:department/:eleme nt_name/:version/ where: project is the parent of sequence sequence is the

Anyone tried the recent Mac OS X Security update?
It includes a patch for Ruby. I have already installed 1.8.4 from source, and updated my PATH to look in /usr/local first, so I don''t imagine that anything Apple does to "their" copy of Ruby will have any impact on me, but I''m wondering if the changes to their Ruby is something that needs to be done to 1.8.4 as well. Thoughts? Walter

Install to Site5
is there any way to install a RoR application to Site5 (or any other host for that matter) that doesn''t require shell access. It would be nice, for simplicity sake, to be able to upload an application edit a .htaccess (or something) and have the application just run. [ it doesn''t really matter if there is no way to do this. its just that I''m trying to test my apps on a

Foreman / external_node.rb
Hello All, I''m trying to start using external nodes under foreman, and I''m running into some issues. I have the entries in puppet.conf: [main] external_nodes = /etc/puppet/external_node.rb node_terminus = exec The enternal_node.rb script is the one that came with foreman: #!/usr/bin/ruby # a simple script which fetches external nodes from Foreman # you

multi channel Ogg Vorbis file corruption
Has anyone else created Vorbis files with more than 6 channels? I'm a game developer trying to use multichannel Ogg Vorbis files for a PS3 and XBOX 360 title. Using the latest release libs and tools, I've created a Mac application that weaves up to 8 stereo AIFF files into one 16 channel Ogg file. What I'm finding is that if anything more than 3 stereo files (corresponding

Suppressing row labels.
Very often when I print a data frame (particularly when sink()-ing to a file I do NOT want the row labels (which are in such cases usually 1, 2, ... nrow(x), where x is the data frame in question). I can of course edit these out ``by hand'', but that's a bit of a pain in the pohutukawa. I recently discovered (reading the help on print.data.frame meticulously, and following it through

Including another helper
I need to include another helper module apart from the normal two (ApplicationHelper and [controllername]Helper). The inclusion needs to be dynamic and based on external parameters (ie what helper that get included differ from request to request). Is it possible? How? /Marcus

Suggestions on "I Need the Kernel Source" Wiki pages
Hi all, I am a newcomer to CentOS but slightly less so to Linux in general (FC4-F9). In short, I am trying to make an old SB Vibra 16C (ISA) sound card work in Centos 5. To achieve this, support for ISA bus and ISA PnP is apparently needed in kernel. Therefore, a custom kernel needs to be built. -- Yes, I have read all the warnings of lack of support, etc. As a first step, I had to build the

WYSIWYG IDE, etc...
I''m new to Ruby, so don''t be too hard on me. Is there a great visual editor for Ruby? Also can Ruby on Rails (RoR) work with any other databases other than the ones listed in the documentation, I need to connect to SQLBase? Can Ruby be used to create standalone Applications (like Java)? If yes, does it create native looking apps? Can it be use in Client-Side and/or Server

Configuring interfaces for Samba-By-Example Ch 3
I have spent a solid two weeks trying to implement the "Secure Office Networking" example in the book "Samba-3 by Example, to no avail. In the example, the system sets the server up as a Samba PDC, and also as a router for two local subnets. There are three network interfaces on the computer: eth0 for the WAN/Internet, firewalled; eth1 & eth2 for two LAN subnets, bound to

Rails Cluster Design
Hello everyone! A collegue and I are beginning development on a site that will eventually need to very scalable (assuming our business model is a good idea). My problem is that I''m not a sysadmin guru, and I''m not terribly comfortable with the design of the hosting platform. We''re going to start with two servers initially (for cost reasons), and I''m considering

[LLVMdev] Automake Notes (Long)
Folks, I have completed the addition of automake makefiles to LLVM. All libraries, tools, and runtime libs build now with automake. Note that there are still many missing things in the automake support. Right now it just builds the basic software. However, before I invest more time in it, I thought some comparison would help us make some decisions about whether or not to proceed with automake

Just another praise!
I just realized that every app I lacked in Mac OS X, now runs effortlessly without any significant bugs or related issues. So I just want to spend a moment and thank you for going through the arduous and meticulous effort of making Wine what it is today. You're heroes, all of you! :D Thank you!

smbd keeps maxing out the cpu, must reboot server constantly [SOLVED]
So now, I suppose I should let the list know what I've done to fix this. I found two offending computers, that caused this problem. The first offending computer I found, I just assigned it a static IP and then firewalled it off from the file server. For it's purpose, it's doesn't actually need to access the file server. I then found a second computer that was suspect, and
