metafont on CentOS 5?
Can someone hit me with the appropriate clue-by-4? is there an available package for CentOS5 which provides the metafont command, or a replacement? What is the name and which repo? please. I have a font bundle I need to use (which is not provided in an RPM that I can find), but metafont does not seem to be available. tetex provides the /usr/share/texmf/metafont directory structure, but not a */bin/metafont... win.metafile use
Platform: Windows 95 Version : R0641 Problem : I wish to plot and save a large number of graphics files in windows metafont format. I have a very crude postscript printing function, which happily handles repeated calls: psf<-function(filename){ dev.print(postscript,file=paste(sep="",filename,".ps"),horizontal=F) return() } To produce metafont files, I adapt this to, for example...

(S|odf)weave : how to intersperse (\LaTeX{}|odf) comments in source code ? Delayed R evaluation ?
Dear list, Inspired by the original Knuth tools, and for paedaogical reasons, I wish to produce a document presenting some source code with interspersed comments in the source (see Knuth's books rendering TeX and metafont sources to see what I mean). I seemed to remember that a code chunk could be defined piecewise, like in Comments... <<Chunk1, eval=FALSE, echo=TRUE>>= SomeCode @ Some other comments... <<Chunk2, eval=FALSE, echo=TRUE>>= MoreCode @ And finally, <<Chunk3, eval=TR...

R-3.6.2 make check fails
You're definitely missing bits of texlive. Lots of "missing file: mf" in your debug logs. I think you need to start with installing texlive-metafont. Alternately, there are pre-built R 3.6.2 packages for EL-7 here: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1421894 I cannot push them as official updates to EPEL because of the catch-22 created by R's dependency on newer C++ support than the EL-7 gcc has. My packages use the devt...

METAFONT does this (and consequently, Metapost as well). I still remember my surprise when I found out that Donald Knuth resorts to such sophisticated machinery for the sole purpose of designing font characters. Knuth surely did many wonderful things :-). -- Fran?ois Pinard http://pinard.progiciels...

FW: Letter Spacing
...The latest version produces compressed text when they are inserted in Word 2000, while the older version did not. I am pretty sure it is a real effect, since it has occured with new installations, the same r program, and the same version of windows and word. I have only tested it with enhanced metafont files, have yet to try it with pdf. Using pdf is a good call though....usually fixes a lot of word bad behaviour. "Statistiques avec R"
Dear R users, I want to share my joy with you. Please see the following excellent introduction to R "Statistiques avec R " by Vincent Zoonekynd http://zoonek2.free.fr/UNIX/48_R/all.html In paticular, you can see a lot of fascinating graphics examples of R from which you can get many hints. Soryy if this is already well-known, but the CRAN search did not show nothing with the keyword

[cfe-dev] [lldb-dev] What version comes after 3.9? (Was: [3.9 Release] Release plan and call for testers)
Bug in cmake (or more likely the makefile?), pure and simple. Version numbers aren't strings, and they aren't floating point numbers, they are a series of integers separated by dots. I can't think of a project where interpreting version numbers that way won't work. On Wed, Jun 15, 2016 at 7:21 AM, Cristianno Martins via llvm-dev < llvm-dev at lists.llvm.org> wrote: >

R-3.6.2 make check fails
I am trying to build the latest version of R (3.6.2) on a CentOS system running 7.7.1908. I have been able to build previous versions of R up to and including 3.5.3 successfully. Starting with 3.6.0 the "make check" step fails with errors relating to "pdflatex" being missing. So, I installed texlive-latex (and the 100 other rpm dependencies) then tried rebuilding R.
