Weird NFS problem
...looks like it's going to be the real thing for some machines
that I look after that are intended to be long-term "just works" application
servers. I plan to start reading and participating in this mailing list now,
so Hello to everyone! My name is Frank Cox and I own and operate the Melville
Theatre in Melville Saskatchewan, Canada.
My first attempt to install Centos 5 was from ISO files that I put
on my fileserver, which is the method that I use to install Fedora. Boot off a
boot CD, point it to the appropriate directrory on the fileserver, and let 'er
rip.
That didn't work...

Recover /usr/lib/libc.a
Hello,
I'm using Centos:
/proc/version = Linux version 2.6.18-128.el5
(mockbuild at builder16.centos.org) (gcc version 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat
4.1.2-44)) #1 SMP Wed Jan 21 10:44:23 EST 2009
I did a mistake and erased libc.a from /usr/lib
How can I recover it without reinstalling Centos ?
Thanks.

"multi-boot" drive partitioning
...d independently into each partition, so I can just tell
Grub to boot up using whatever partition I choose.
What is the best way to accomplish this? I have a bad feeling that the drive
partitioning tool is going to complain about having multiple / partitions
unless I take steps to avoid that.

ip range cidr calculator
...or that takes an address range and give it
back in cidr format.
I found an online one that does this here:
http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/subnet-mask-calculator.php
But I would prefer to have the commandline one back again.
Does anyone know what it's called and where it can be found?

...video card on
Centos? This hardware (sound, video, ethernet, what-have-you) works fine on
Fedora 11; can I expect it to also work fine with Centos 5.4? The ethernet
isn't a big deal because I can easily slap another network card into it, but
the rest isn't quite so easy to substitute.

Is there anything new to report? My ulterior motive is that I would love to
have the convenience of a one-stop rpm shop for Centos/RHEL and Fedora, and
it's my understanding that's what rpmfusion is intended to be...

This actually bring up an interesting question that I've not yet seen an answer to:
What is the equivalent of runlevel 1 on Centos 7 and how do you get there?

Since your configuration files say that mbstring.so should exist in
/etc/php.d, the first question to ask is, does it?

Hitting Ctrl-Alt-anyFkey does nothing for a while, then every keystroke

Am I doing something wrong? Fedora 11 works fine on this machine, and I
installed that from a livecd.
