Not able to run kernel-xen with megasr module :/
I've managed to install CentOS 5.1 on S5000PAL
with fakeraid Intel Embedded Raid Technology II
Raid1 (LSI chipset) with some help of kickstart
declaration 'driverdisk --source=http://.../driver.img'
Then I've had some problems with yum update - new kernel
didn't know about megasr.ko. I've solved it with commands:
cd /lib/modules/
cp 2.6.18-53.el5PAE/updates/megasr.ko 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5PAE/updates/
depmod -a 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5PAE
mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-53.1.14.el5PAE-new.img 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5PAE
at last I've edited grub.conf add '-new' to initr defin...

LSI 1068e (Super Micro OEM) - kernel update problem
...[68] Express Endpoint IRQ 0
Capabilities: [98] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+
Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [b0] MSI-X: Enable- Mask- TabSize=1
But if I try to load the XEN kernel or a newer kernel all I got is a
kernel panic, because the new kernel does not know about the megasr.ko
module that I installed from disk.
So I did the following (without final success):
- cp /lib/modules/2.6.18-8.el5/updates/*
/lib/modules/2.6.18-8.1.15.el5/updates
- depmod -a 2.6.18-8.1.15.el5
- created a new initrd-cpio file and copied megasr.ko into the lib
directory
The systems starts loa...

CentOS 5.5 does not recognise SAS drives with LSI 1068E Controller
I need to do a new CentOS net install on a new server having the
Supermicro X7DVL-3 motherboard:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon1333/5000V/X7DVL-3.cfm
Based on that info I assume the board having a "8x SAS Ports via LSI
1068E Controller". We received the server with 3 drives + 1 spare as
hw RAID-5 preinstalled. During bootup I see that the drives are
initialised

Installing a CentOS based distro with Raid driver - Citrix XenServer
...spa?messageID=1456872
with this :
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18570&lang=fra
driver, but it didn't work (I use the SATA Raid controler not the SAS,
so it seems that I have to find the good driver for ESB2 but I'm not
sure and it uses megasr driver)
Anyone as a clue ?
PS : I posted on Citrix forum but nobody's answering, if someone here
has a clue I'm greatful to him
