Wrapping prio in tbf
The manual says (about prio): > Because it doesn''t actually shape, the same warning as for SFQ holds: > either use it only if your physical link is really full or wrap it > inside a classful qdisc that does shape. The latter holds for almost all > cable modems and DSL devices. I want to wrap prio inside of tbf. Here''s why: I have a server on a DSL line, which has

root preexec & 2.0.7
I a have a problem resulting from a neat tool I developed through the use of the "root preexec" option: This is done in the [homes] section of smb.conf. I launch a shell script with the user name (%u) and machine name (%m). The shell calls a C program to check the users quota and returns a code as the percentage of quota used. Meanwhile, all output of the C program has been captured

fatal: PRNG initialisation failed
Heya, I have compiled and installed OpenSSH on a Solaris/Sparc machine and whenever I try to start any of the ssh programs I get "fatal: PRNG initialisation failed -- exiting" Now, I have looked through the mailing lists and have seen some mention that this indicates it can't open the ssh_prng_cmds file, which entropy.c also seems to indicate the problem is. However, this snippet

New Dovecot service: SMTP Submission (RFC6409)
One other point. Adding support for something like this that also requires Clients to add support for it is just begging for a feature that never gets used. Stephan, are you sure there is no (fairly simple) way to make this an SMTP service that any email client that supports SMTP can use? Unbootable machine
Hello Peter & Jeremy, I've found an ordinary desktop PC (with Phoenix Award BIOS 6.00PG) that won't boot off a USB stick created by livecd-tools-024 with syslinux (tested both versions 3.75 and 3.81). The boot process drops to the "boot:" prompt with an error message: could not find kernel image: linux The same USB stick boots fine on any other computer I could find.

binding to privileged ports
Apologies if this is a FAQ; I couldn't find an answer on openssh.com or the mailing list archive.... Commercial SSH (I looked at 1.2.30) allocates privileged ports by counting /downwards/ from 1023, so that it will obtain a socket with (roughly speaking) the highest available privileged port number. This also appears to be the behaviour of rsh et al: (from sshconnect.c; whitespace elided)

Win2k & 2.0.7
When I try to join the Win2k machine to a domain, I get the following message: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "WIN2K": The procedure number is out of range. This is a Win2k PC attempting to join to AIX 4.3.2 running samba 2.0.7. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill -- /------------------------------------------------------\
