You mean you're using it for ogg-streaming? If I remember correctly
just a few mails ago somebody said it only plays static files. Which
plugin (patch???) are you using?

Seems here is the right place?
http://mediaxw.sourceforge.net/
What is a bit strange: It claims to have had no updates since 2001
(MediaXW-package itself in the SF-downloadsection) / 2002 (website)?

ACM work
Yep, that's the bad news, you need an ID from Microsoft to make sure
this ID is only used for FLAC. But since it's a 16 bits value, you can
probably put anything randomly (only few are reserved). And I don't
think it's illegal to use a number like that.

ACM codec
Hello everyone,
I was just browsing through some video capturing websites/forums and saw some
people complain that there was no lossless codec available to encode audio in
AVI files. I thought that FLAC would have one but it doesn't seem to be the case.
As it's a popular demand (now that hard drives are inexpensive, people can
record hours of video/audio without any loss and then

DirectShow filters ?
Hi!
First , on page http://www.vorbis.com/software.psp?pid=2
"Other Software Which Supports Ogg Vorbis"
there is a link to http://mediaxw.org (Ogg Vorbis DirectShow Filters)
The page is gone. It has a notice that it moved to
http://sf.net/projects/mediaxw
I sent this note to feedback@vorbis.com.
Second, that project is suspended.
But there is another one at http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm,

OGG/Vorbis DirectShow
Hi!
On http://www.vorbis.com/software.psp?pid=2 ( Other Vorbis software
for windows ) there is a link called "Ogg Vorbis DirectShow Filters"
pointing to http://sf.net/projects/mediaxw That project is dead !
But there is another vorbis DS project at
http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm , which is actively developed.
How about updating the vorbis.com page to point to this DS-vorbis page ?
Or is there another "official" OGG/Vorbis DirectShow implementation ?

Streaming With Flac
We have FLAC support on our AudioReQuest products, and we allow
streaming from our built-in web server for MP3s, but can not get Flac
working. Does anyone know a Windows based player that will play FLAC
streams?
I have tried the Winamp plug-in for FLAC (even updated it to 1.1.0), but
streaming is not working. We use embedded id3 tags instead of Flac
comments if this means anything. Thanks

...s/coreflac and any DirectShow based
player ( like WMP 6.4 ) , but i dont know if Toff had the time already
to add a async_reader sourcefilter structure, and this would be required
if the filter should connect to the HTTP streaming filter from M$.
The only other solution i am aware of is the old MediaXW project of Ingo
Ralf Blum, but i am not sure if the very old version on sourceforge is
capable of playing FLAC already, and he improved the filter closed
source on his home PC, disappointed from the lack of interest from other
developers in what he was trying to do ....

Ogg Vorbis Playback with Windows Media Player
Where do I go and what do I download to enable Ogg Vorbis Playback with
Windows Media Player? I found something on sourceforge.net but at the top
it says
Current (Test and development files; these can damage your whole DirectShow
system and probably requires a complete Windows reinstallation)

Ogg Vorbis DirectShow decoder filter - ongoing development ?
...o time constraints we dont have plans to write an
opensource Ogg splitter/parser also, nor do we have plans for an Ogg
muxer filter.
Thanks for telling us if there are any plans into this direction or not.
Best regards
Christian
P.S. We are also talking to Ingo Ralf Blum, the developer of the MediaXW
DShow filter package, the first working Vorbis decoder filter ever, to
find out if his filter could be an alternative.

The licensing issue is still a mess, although they
hope to make it at least coherent "real soon now". Use
at your own risk.
BTW, there is no MP4. The equivalent audio codec is the
Dolby AAC.

Skipping with vorbisfile playback using DirectSound
I'm having a problem trying to write a simple vorbis file player using
DirectSound. The decoding portion is pretty much straight from the
vorbisfile sample code. The pcm data gets put into one half of a
DirectSound buffer, and as that half is playing, the next half gets filled.
The problem is, there's skipping and some noise when the file is being
played (although some of the music is

Whatever became of Ogg Theora?
There seems to be still almost no news from Xiph or its
developers regarding Ogg Theora. None at all since Mid-December,
when the release of Alpha 2 was pushed back to a month ago...
No news on plans for the second Alpha? No news of development
"roadmaps"? No news on current developments or challenges that
are stalling development? No CVS updates

Re: ACM codec
Mr. Blum,
I had to make some assumptions writing the driver, because I had no previous
experience writing ACM drivers. I did what I could based in Microsoft's
documentation but, of course, I made same mistakes. I had no time to test
the code I wrote yet and will not in the next 2 weeks. All I can tell you
now is about what I did and about my sources. So, considering your
enthusiasm, I suggest
