Idea to possibly improve flac?

Yes, this is sad. cdparanoia, which could be considered a strong opensource meatspace partner to FLAC (along with cdda2wav) is also effectively dead. All three living on only in the ports trees of various operating systems. Minor bugs and doc fixes are always needed. What's worse is, when the heat turns up on dead projects, instead of just stepping up or handing off in a competi...

wxGrid Question
When operating with a wxGrid is there a way to get a reference to the TextCtrl field that is created when you start typing in a cell. Also is there a way to get mouse events to work with a wxGrid, so far I can''t get any of them to work. I had tried various combo''s of: @grid.evt_left_down(){ |event| puts "Left mouse is down"; } using evt_left_down, evt_left_up,

WAS: Strategy for a stable IAXy NOW: IAXy vs old P-3
...have 1 shot to make this thing work. If the user is dissapointed, they will have lost all confidence in Asterisk. My other option is to drop an old P-3 in the location and IAX it to our production server, then stick in a TDM400. I'd rather to do an IAXy since there's (supposed to be) less meatspace overhead. Eric Wieling wrote: >The IAXy does not support low bandwidth protocols. Hrm, you're right. Looking at the datasheet, closest I can come is ADPCM. Maybe this IAXy thing I should sit on. OK, new question: IAXy vs old P-3 & TDM-400 - Opinions on hassle, reliability, hackabil...

xbox asterisk?
http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20050512.html interesting comment this week about the Xbox - any intelligent thoughts here? I know the price point puts it above most users Asterisk outlay (I run mine on a $100 P3 -800) But interesting to see what happens if people start running video conferencing etc on their home asterisk servers, and lets face it where else can you buy this

Idea to possibly improve flac?
Hi folks! Due to the fact that more and more users increasingly use MP3 < 320kbps as their source for encoding music, and publish it as flac files, I suggest that something is done in the flac encoder to possible avoid this. My idea is kinda easy/stupid, but might work; Implement a function that use a FFT to check if the input has frequencies > 16kHz, and informs the user that the file

high frequencies response
Hi there In the past, i have used lame to encode high quality mp3-files (vbr 1, bitrate ~ 192kbit). I tend to switch to ogg with Quality 4 or 5, but i noticed, that many ogg-files tend to produce too much high frequencies response. In many cases, this is very noticeable. For my opinion, i cannot accept this worse frequence reponse. I have used latest version of ogg (OggEnc v1.0, precompiled
