Using deliver from Getmail?
Hello list, a quick question: can I use Dovecot's LDA "deliver" as a destination in Getmail? I.e.: [destination] type = MDA_external path = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver arguments = ("-d", "username",) Or is deliver not supposed to be called this way? What I'd like to do is use deliver in the same way I would have used procmail ages ago. Getmail retrieves the mail messages, filters them accordi...

I want to deliver mail to different folders in maildb's Maildir/ depending on who the email is addressed to (the procmail recipes currently do that). - Getmail destination section looks like this: [destination] type = MDA_external path = /usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver arguments = ("-d", "maildb") allow_root_commands = true - When I run getmail I get this error in dovecot.log: deliver(maildb): May 04 22:15:26 Error: Can't connect to auth server at /var/run/dovecot/auth-master: No such f...

How do I get my mail from fetchmail into dovecot?
I have dovecot (with squirrel mail etc.) running without any problems but cannot understand how to get e-mail from a pop server into dovecot. I have fetchmail configured to pick up the mail from the pop3 server but don't understand how to get it from there into my dovecot mbox structure. New to mail servers! Thanks, Michael.

getmail, dovecot, virtual users
Hello, I've got a dovecot setup with virtual users coming from a MySQL database. The only system user I have is the vmail owner of the email store. What i'd like to do is use the program getmail to back up my gmail account and place that in my user's virtual mail store. I'm having issues making the configuration file and where to put it. Should it go in the virtual user's home

Indexing Mail faster
Dear Peter, My inbox is MDA_external Storage: 17GB of 24GB Subject / From / To is fast but FTS(Full Text Search) for body is horrible. I suppose this is where we need Apache Solr. Dovecot namespace solved while writing; preparing to refilter
Hi! My plea to readers: =================== Pls., people who only want strictly technical issues to read, and frown at any broader context regardless how intrinsically related, but not strictly technically related, it might be, skip all the way, all the way to, search for exact words: "strictly technical" or visually, find two lines of sole "===" characters. Thank you!
