MCP55 SATA data corruption in FreeBSD 7
I am having problems with silent data corruption on (some) drives
connected to an MCP55 SATA controller.
I have two servers, both running RELENG_7_0/amd64. One has the 570 Ultra
chipset, the other has 570 SLI. Both chipsets have the MCP55 SATA
controller.
The server with 570 Ultra chipset has a bunch of older 250GB SATA-150
drives hooked up to the MCP55 controller and it is working...

Is there a way to tell the machine to use

Fully virtualized domU Linux network (VLAN) trouble
...#39;ve found a few documents that suggest to use VLANs
in dom0, and bridge the virtual interfaces to the VLAN interfaces in
dom0. I''ve spend a few hours trying to get that to work but
unfortunately that didn''t work either.
The physical NICs are:
00:08.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP55 Ethernet (rev a3)
00:09.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP55 Ethernet (rev a3)
How should I further debug/analyse this problem?
kind regards,
Jan

After the interesting revelations about the X2100 and it''s hot-swap abilities,
what are the abilities of the X2200-M2''s disk subsystem, and is ZFS going to

Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
...ellent article on building a home NAS, yet I still have a number of unanswered questions.
I was leaning heavily towards the M2N-E for a while, but it has a number of strikes against it:
- Discontinued, not likely to be available to build additional rigs
- No longer available via Newegg
- MCP55 copy/fs lockup problem still unresolved
Although the Nvidia 750a chipset seems to be supported by the sata_nv driver, I have read several open bug reports which indicate it may not be a good choice. Likewise, I have read several negatives on the entire line of AMD southbridges under Solaris. As i...

MCP51 sound card can be recognized but can't work
Hi all,
I recently install CentOS 5.2 on my Asus Z99M laptop, everything seem to
works fine but there is some problem with the sound card.
The system can recognized the hardware and I can even run the Realplayer for
linux without any error messages, but it can't make any sound, or even
noise.
I have googled a lot but still can't get it work.
Will anyone please guide me to solve this

ALSA Drivers not detected in openSUSE 11.1.
I have made a fresh installation of openSUSE 11.1 x86_64. I compiled WINE from source (newest dev version) and I only have one problem and that is that in the sound tab of the winecfg app, I can only see the OSS driver and not the ALSA driver. What could be causing this? :?
I'm using "MCP55 High Definition Audio" which is the on-board audio device. The sound seems to be working fine everywhere else.
It might also be important to add that I have imported the whole registry from my old installation of openSUSE 11.0 with again, the newest version of WINE (yesterday).

Speed problem Ubuntu < WD TV Live
Dear all,
I have experiencing some speed issues recently when moving files using
Samba between a linux box (Kubuntu 10.10) and a media player called WD
TV Live.
Both are wired to a 100 Mb network, together with a Windows 7 box. In
principle I believe is not a hardware issue. When I move files between
the WD TV Live and the Windows box I get speeds of around 8 MB/s.
Between Kubuntu and WDTV I get

ZFS Inexpensive SATA Whitebox
All,
So I have started working with Solaris 10 at work a bit (I''m a Linux
guy by trade) and I have a dying nfs box at home. So the long and short of
it is as follows: I would like to setup a SATAII whitebox that uses ZFS as
its filesystem. The box will probably be very lightly used, streaming media
to my laptop and workstation would be the bulk of the work. However I do
have quite a

using NUT 2.2. I think this all worked OK, did not see anything suspicious.
(But again, compiling on linux is also new to me.) PC is a pretty generic
ASUS motherboard with an AMD X2 proc and nVidia chipset (MCP55 USB).
The setup had some USB issues causing initial confusion. I'm running a
workaround to get EHCI and OHCI loaded instead of UHCI; USB appears fine
now, although I am not successful using hotplug. CC does not use udev and
thus I presume should be using "old-style" hotplug s...

Problem with CentOS 5.3 Xen and Windows Server 2008 HVM DomU
Hi,
I have CentOS 5.3 64bit and couple of Windows Server 2008 32Bit DomU's
on it.
Problem is that I got hit with the "A clock interrupt was not recevied
on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" Blue Screen
when trying to run with more than one CPU
When searching around I found that official XEN distribution
(development version) has some fixes for it, but

M2N32, suse 10.3 and network problem
...in the lan. if I try pinging the domU''s I
just get no reply at all. If I shutdown and boot the
domU''s again everything runs again.
I considered running "ethtool -K eth0 tx off" on one,
all domU''s without success. First I had delegated one
of the on board nics (mcp55, forcedeth) from dom0 and
forwarded to domU fw. That gave some mm.c
errormessages. Thus I now have a pci USB contrioller
with attached NIC delegated from dom0 to domU fw.
Here are the configs for fw
