pxelinux 2.11 unable to mount root fs
Hi,
I've been using PxeLinux to boot our Debian kernel successfully for
some time now. I recently increased the size of the ramdisk from about
484 MBs to 517 MBs and encountered the following error during bootup:

ebs mbs p-phone question
While looking around for a ISDN card for my ADIT, I noticed that there
is a card that supports EBS or p-phone lines. So I've been looking at
some of the features of this kind of signaling. This would seem to
provide the advanced handset function needed by business users. I think
I even saw cards available for the Adtran hardware.
So for the question, does anyone have knowledge of this kind

read.csv size limits
I have been using the read.csv function for a while now without any problems.
My files are usually 20-50 MBs and they take up to a minute to import. They
have all been under 50,000 rows and under 100 columns.
Recently, I tried importing a file of a similar size (which means about the
same amount of data), but with ~500,000 columns and ~20 rows. The process is
taking forever (~1 hour so far). In Task Mana...

XEN - Routed and Bridget Mode together (mixed)
Hi,
is there any possibility to get a XEN DomO and DomU running with
bridget and routed mode together.
The reason behind this is, to get the requests via the official IPs to
the DomU''s (routed-mode) and the interworking
between the DomU''s with connected with help of the (bridged-mode).
I got it work, with setting everything up manually. But as I

Motherboards for HPC applications
...llo,
Can somebody recommend CentOS-OK, dual socket motherboards for compute
elements? A quick look up at Intel pages suggests they are thinking of
them as "server boards", but then they recommend them as "for SMB",
I'm somewhat puzzled about it.
It would be nice to know what MBs you are using, pros and cons.
Thank you in advance

Reg: Throughput b/w domU & dom0
Hi all,
I used netperf to measure throughput between dom0 & domU.
The throughput between dom0 -> domU was 256.00 Mb/sec
domU -> dom0 was 401.15 Mb/sec.
The throughput between dom0 & domU seems to be very asymmetry. To my
surprise the throughput between domU -> dom0 is more. The value which I
specified are consistent values. Is

using rsync 3.0.0 CVS version
...'ve wanted to start working with this CVS version cuz the new
"incremental-recursion algorithm" is just what I need. But ran into a
problem...
When I start the rsync, either with the rsync protocol or rsh, i found that
it'll start doing the rsync and just halt after a few hundred MBs or even up
to a couple GBs.
I was never able to finish an rsync.
Anyone else had this problem?

Each RDS is 40 MBs. What's a slick code to compare them row by row, IDing row numbers with mismatches?
Thanks in advance.

OT: syncing
Hi,
An offtopic quesiton, but I could not think of asking any other list
where it might be answered.
I have a client uploading a few designs (25-30 Mbs) daily at a remote
ftp server. We download them in morning. Since we have a slow
connection we daily waste a couple of hours downloading it. Is there
any way I can download them at night. The only thing is that I am not
sure of the time they upload daily (it changes) and I don't want to

Poor performance with shard

The storage is configured with 3 gluster volumes, every volume has 12

With the 'features.shard' off option my writing speed (using the 'dd'
command) is approximately 250 Mbs and when the feature is on the writing
speed is around 130mbs.

IAX2 one way audio
...this, and see there may be some internal issues with asterisk and one way audio. Can this be a widespread problem? So many seem to be using IAX, I find it puzzling.
Some information points to this being a problem on asymmetrical connections. This is a decidedly asymmetrical connection, with 1.5 Mbs download and 256 kbs, upload. A satellite link, to boot. So, maybe this is a meltdown right from the start? Event the vendor of the IAX service was not too keen.
Oddly, my first few connections worked fine (unexpectedly good audio, both ways). Being all happy and stuff, made a call to a clien...

Using R to create pdf's from each file in a directory

local machine with an excel macro. I would like to use R to take data
points from each of the CSV files and create line graphs in PDF format
because it will save me ALOT of time. I am able to successfully do this
when I call the file name directly...however my script bombs when I try to
do multiple files. I would like the created pdf's to have the same filename
as the original csv files. I have looked quite a bit and not found much
help on "batch processing" an entire directory. My current code is as
follows:

Increasing throughput on xen bridges
Hi all,
I have a rhel 5.1 xen server with two rhel 3 ES hvm guests installed. Both
rhel3 guests use an internal xen bridge (xenbr1) which it isn''t binded to any
physical interface host. On this bridge throughput it is very very poor, only
2.5 Mbs. How can I increase this throughput???
Many thanks.

Howto to control rsync through cron
Hi,
I have setup a cron job to rsync files between two servers every hour.
30 * * * * rsync -avz --delete rsyncsrv1::ftp/ /export/ftp/
This works fine most of the time, but if I have a very large file that
needs to be transfered ( many tens of MBs), I run into a problem. Since
the link between my two servers is slow, it can take more than an hour
to complete the rsync transfer. So at the end of the hour, when the next
rsync job is started by cron, the big file transfer gets aborted and a
new transfer is started. Due to this the big file tran...

Very poor writing performance
Hi;
I am using Samba 2.2.0 on a small business network (192.168.1.x). I am running
Suse 7.2 on a pentium pro 120. This machine is also the local gateway (isdn) using
masquarading. I have a 10 Mbs utp network.
I am experiencing an extreme difference in read and write speed over the samba server.
Writing from a windows machine (windows 98se) to the linux box gives me data
rates of approx 16 kByte/sec, reading from the linux box to the windows machine
is near 1 MByte/sec.

Reduce memory peak when serializing to raw vectors
...B:
$ cat /proc/15155/status |grep Vm

VmHWM: 1207792 kB
VmRSS: 817272 kB
We work with very large data frames and in many cases this is killing R with an "out of memory" error.
This is the relevant code in R 3.1.3 in src/main/serialize.c:2494
InitMemOutPStream(&out, &mbs, type, version, hook, fun);
R_Serialize(object, &out);
val = CloseMemOutPStream(&out);
The serialized object is being stored in a buffer pointed by out.data. Then in CloseMemOutPStream() R copies the whole buffer to a newly allocated SEXP object (the raw vector that stores the final res...
