Xen & SELINUX: how disable in guest?
Hello all! I try to boot the guest VM in native EL5.1 dom0. Kernel for guest domain I took from source compiled Xen distributions since native EL5.1 kernel being tired as guest did not see root partition at all. SELinux enforcing is disabled in the dom0: > [root@mbone ~]# getenforce > Permissive Configuration file for guest domain has parameter to disable selinux: > [root@mbone ~]# grep extra /etc/xen/xm-test > # You can use ''extra'' to set the runlevel and custom environment > extra = "4 enforcing=0" But I still get err...

multiple softphone clients and same/different account credentials
(I'm new to Asterisk, after having started VOIP with vat on the mbone in the 90s.) I am setting up my first Asterisk system, and trying to read docs/guidance and follow best practices. I have read the 5th Edition of "Asterisk: The Definitive Guide" and like the 3rd Edition on the web it recommends that hardphones and softphones both have a unique name dis...

...ols you have to use is non open-source (gasp) and available from www.live.com. If anyone knows any real open source tools, please let me know. =) If you can hold out a bit, I am getting Yet Another DVMRP tunnel "any day now". At that point I'm going to rebroadcast my stream over the MBONE. Then I'll have more accurate data. ------ Dave Hayes - Consultant - Altadena CA, USA - dave@jetcafe.org >>> The opinions expressed above are entirely my own <<< Ours is a world where people don't know what they want but are willing to go through hell to get it. <p&g...

Suggestions for low level RTP stream generator?
...ing for a lean-and-mean command line program! rtptools from Columbia seems to be almost what I want, except that for rtpsend I have to specify the desired RTP stream in more detail than I want. (I just want to generate a valid stream containing say "silence") I also looked at rat (from mbone days) - it can generate a "tone test" Can anyone suggest other old-time utilities that might help me? UDP Vs. TCP
...It doesn't deal, where TCP has some back-off >mechanisms. Of course, where you are streaming something, that may be more >detrimental depending on the b/w of the stream. > >-Steve The broadcast doesn't need to leave our city and I work for a major ISP so getting Multicasting or Mbone on our system would just take a little social engineering. The streams need to be as small as possible, so low quality is fine. I remember when I first started ripping CDs into MP3s, I saw this scale with CD quality on top and its equivalent bitrate, then tape, then FM radio and then finally AM rad...

Bad NICs (was Collision Lights go Crazy)
...s under DOS/windoze and linux. Yes, this is true, however the latest drivers (in the 2.2 kernels) have all these worked out except for a multicast bug. The multicast bug only comes into play if you have IP Multicasting enabled in the kernel and are doing several multicast packets (i.e. running an MBone server or something). Plus, those cards go through some serious testing since 1) Linus uses them at work and 2) a lot of Transmeta uses them at work. I have 2 machines (P90/24MB RAM and a K6-233/64MB RAM) at home connected on a 100mbps hub with the EEPro cards. They work like a charm and get very...

iax2 wireless and Multicast
Hi. I'm proposing a wireless distribution system in infraestructure mode for a valley with no cables and distant houses, respect to Asterisk, I can get a company I work with to provide me with E1 and use LCR to get 4 different telcos based on prefix. I've been reading a very interesting paper about voip on wireless, i recommend it really
