Can't Get Lattice Histogram Minor Tick Marks to Work
I'm drawing a paneled histogram using the lattice package. I've succeeded in adding minor tick marks to the vertical axis, but I can't get the desired number of minor tick marks between the major tick marks. I've attached a self-contained program to illustrate the problem. Thanks for your help, Don Macnaughton Here's my sessionInfo: R version 3.4.3 (2017-11-30) Platform:

vanilla session in R Gui or RStudio
[env: Windows, R 3.6.6] When I start R from the R Gui icon or from RStudio, I get a large number of packages loaded via a namespace. Not entirely clear where these come from. As a result, I often run into problems updating packages because something is already loaded. How can start a new gui session with minimal packages loaded? > sessionInfo() R version 3.6.3 (2020-02-29) Platform:

download.file does not process gz files correctly (truncates them?)
Dear all, I've noticed by trying to download gz files from here : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo/query/acc.cgi?acc=GSM907811 At the bottom one can download GSM907811.CEL.gz . If I download this manually and try oligo::read.celfiles("GSM907811.CEL.gz") everything works fine. (oligo is a bioConductor package) However, if I download using download.file("

I see as below, where getGeneric and getMethod imply a different signature; the signature is mode="any" for both cases in R version 3.2.3 Patched (2016-01-28 r70038)I don't know how to reproduce Jeff's error, though. > library(Matrix) > as.vector function (x, mode = "any") .Internal(as.vector(x, mode)) <bytecode: 0xe79f88> <environment:

How to get CI from surfit object in survival
Dear Bert, thank you for suggestion. I am aware of R-help function. I must apologize, my earlier question could lead to assumptions otherwise. As you can see below, I only get Std. error but not lower and Upper CIs. I was wondering if there is another argument or method, could give CIs which I cannot find anywhere. Thanks Adrian > Nsurv <-

sparse.model.matrix Generates Non-Existent Factor Levels if Ord.factor Columns Present
Good day, Sometimes, sparse.model.matrix outputs a dgCMatrix which has column names consisting of factor levels that were not in the original dataset. The first factor appears to be correctly transformed, but the following factors don't. For example: diamonds <- as.data.frame(ggplot2::diamonds) > colnames(sparse.model.matrix(~ . -1, diamonds)) [1] "carat"

Unexpected behaviour with download.packages on Windows
If no 'type' is specified, download.packages("pkgname") will download source packages (.tar.gz files), even on Windows. However, the help says type character string, indicate which type of packages: see install.packages. and on Windows, install.packages defaults to downloading binary packages. Is this intended behaviour on the part of download.packages? This is on R

Have you looked into your .Rprofile file? Loading packages is not something R normally does without your telling it to do so, but many people forget that they have done so. Did you not notice the conf.type = "none" argument to your survfit call and the associated documentation in the survfit help? -- Bert Bert Gunter "The trouble with having an open mind is that people keep coming along and sticking things into it." -- Opus (aka Berkeley Breathed in his "Bloom County" comic strip ) On Sat, Aug 26, 2017 at 5:18 PM, Adrian Johnson
