Maruson power net 1500 support?
...er Net 1500" UPS. However, there is currently no monitoring or control of the UPS by this (or any other) computer. Can nut control this device? There are serial, usb, and EPO connectors on the back of the unit. (There may be a manual but I'm going to have to hunt for it.) enable client to join domain with no or any password?
...ESS, wrong password, does not matter) server: set client_machine accept_only_password (CLOSE THE HOLE) That way the password would never be stored on the client. It should be safe enough since the security hole is only opened for a single machine, and then only for a limited time. upgrade broke XP workstation logins, variably
...subnet 131.215.12.42 Samba server SAFSERVER is now a local master browser for workgroup SAF on subnet 13.215.12.42 These are unchanged from the previous version. The smb.conf was not modified. It still uses the smbpasswd mechanism. Anybody have a suggestion what to try next? Thanks, David Mathog mathog@caltech.edu Manager, Sequence Analysis Facility, Biology Division, Caltech

...) Also, this system has SWAP on an LVM as well. Will that still be mounted right before "halt" tries to remount? If so I suppose it should be marked the same way, but at least for the /dev/md0 form that isn't an option since there is ONLY /dev/md0, and no /dev/md1. parallel administration tool for PCs?
...ce NTFS can be mounted read/write these days, access to the XP directories is possible from linux. That makes the file synchronization relatively straightforward, but at the cost of having to run a completely different OS, and the loss of the ability to run programs within Windows. netlogon initially fails after moving samba server to new machine.
...all on the same subnet, so the client can see the MAC. Else, how does the XP client realize the server has changed and fail to logon? This is only a minor PITA for me, since there are only 8 clients involved. It would be really painful though for a site with hundreds of clients. ...arrange the desktop 4. logout 5. login again start menu is back as it was and it isn't classic view any more. Very strange. Wipe the test profile on the server and the copy on the client. Login (creates a new one), ok, now changes are being saved. What is going on here??? Thanks, David Mathog mathog@caltech.edu Manager, Sequence Analysis Facility, Biology Division, Caltech

method to simulate domain logon from a node?
...e apparently broke the machine records in the smbpasswd file, with the resulting symptom that domain logons on those computers would fail about 95% of the time. (A very strange symptom, how it worked sometimes is still a mystery to me.) Similarly, this would fail: % smbclient -L saf01 -U 'saf/mathog%(password)' session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE Conversely this worked (user domain logon, directly to the domain master): % smbclient -L safserver -U 'saf/mathog%(password)' That told me that the user logon was ok, but there was some issue with interaction between the two...

Request for added functionality - tracking and blocking attacks
...address is, and provides that information through some sort of interprocess communication to any network daemons which request it. This would also provide, I think, an easier way than log file scraping for adding firewall rules to block an address which was overly problematic. copy and empty userA folder1, append to /var/mail/userB
...d. It would suffice if there was some way to force dovecot to create "empty"" .imap/export: dovecot.index.cache dovecot.index.log files. Note this isn't a problem for the archiver itself, since it doesn't have any imap indexed files. Suggestions? Samba 3.4.7-0.2, Windows 7, roaming profile issues
...and the next 30 waiting for it. Conversely, a network logon for one of the XP machines (same account) takes only 17 seconds. The roaming profiles are separated by Windows version, one shows up as "Vista.V2" and the other as "WinXP". Full path on the server is /u1/usr/profiles/mathog/ and then one or the other of the windows folders. There are errors in the W7 system's application event log. On every domain user login there is first an error 1515: "Windows has backed up this user profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backup profile the next time the u...
