Partition of a set
Hi
I am new on this forum. I am searching for a function in R which provides
all partitions of a set, say for the set
{1,2,3}
you get
{{1,2,3}}
{1,{2,3}}
{2,{1,3}}
{3,{1,2}}
{{1},{2},{3}}
. The number of partitions of a set is given by Bellsche`s number. The
number of possibilities of length (this is the number of subsets included in
the partition) of the partition is given by the partition

[2.5.6] File table overflow
Hi,
on my linux box (2.4.21-pre4-ac4)
I've used rsync to mirror a rather large /usr/local tree (4 Gb)
After transmission of many files I get the error message
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(1045)
According to /usr/include/asm/errno.h the code 23 says
File table overflow
What can I do about that?
Many thanks for a hint,

Masked help page
Hi list,
not really a problem to solve but a strange unwanted behavior (at least I
do not like it):
I'm loading
library(multiv)
to use sammon.
Later I load
library(MASS)
which tells me that sammon is masked now, because
there is also a MASS version of sammon.
Since I believe that the MASS version is at least as good as the multiv
version, I would also use the MASS version, but

How to draw a tree?
Hi,
I have run rpart to construct a regression tree. Is there any simple
method to draw a nice picture of it, as it is usually done in books and
paper to visualize the tree?
Thank you,
Christian

Non-standard usage of rsync
Hi,
I am thinking about a non-standard usage of rsync (at least not
mentioned in the man file)
I want to synchronized my collegues home directories(trees) each night
AND store rsync's internal updating commands (reversed) to be able
to restore the state of a directory the day before.
This would require
- saving the internal updating commands in a separate directory
- reversing these commands

svm
Hello list,
I want to apply svm from library e1071, and I want to supply class weights.
I do not really understand the help entry (and there is no example)
class.weights: a named vector of weights for the different classes,
used for asymetric class sizes. Not all factor levels have to
be supplied (default weight: 1). All components have to be
named.
I have two

Goodness of fit test for estimated distribution
Hi,
is there any method for goodness of fit testing of an (as general as
possible) univariate distribution with parameters estimated, for normal,
exponential, gamma distributions, say (e.g. the corrected p-values for
the Kolmogorov-Smirnov or Chi-squared with corresponding ML estimation
method)?
It seems that neither ks.test nor chisq.test handle estimated parameters.
I am aware of function

License question
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right mailing list for my question,
so please redirect me if this is the wrong place for the
following question:
Am I allowed to include R.dll and Rblas.dll in other software ?
In my case I'm want to run some R commands from a Python script
and save the results. I tried RPy2 which has some trouble running
on Windows.
Regards, Uwe

Shared folders not shown if "INBOX.shared.%.%" is used with dovecot 2.1.10
Hi,
Thunderbird uses the following IMAP command to list shared folders:
. list "" INBOX.shared.%.%
Dovecot 2.1.10 does not list any folders in response to this command.
Dovecot 2.0.21 does list them:
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." "INBOX.shared.user1.folder"
. OK List completed.
Both versions list the folders if "*" is used instead of

49 histograms on one page
Hi,
I want to do something like this:
par(mfrow=c(7,7))
for (i in 1:49)
hist(RATDACOM[SUBJNO==i],breaks=0.5+(0:6),
main="",xlab="",ylab="",xaxt="n",yaxt="n")
(Don't think about what RATDACOM and SUBJNO are.)
I get an error
Error in plot.new() : Figure margins too large.
36 histograms with mfrow=c(6,6) work.
But the 36 histograms

wireframe zlim option
Hello,
I would like to plot a wireframe of a function which is defined on the
unit square using the lattice library (for trellis-like plots). The plot
contains z-values of about 100 (only in the neighborhood of zero) although
most of the z-values are in the range of -let's say- 0 to 10. If I
evaluate this function on an equidistant grid of 25 points on the unit
square the plot quality is not

random forest question
Hi,
here are three results of random forest (version 4.0-1).
The results seem to be more or less the same which is strange because I
changed the classwt.
I hoped that for example classwt=c(0.45,0.1,0.45) would result in fewer
cases classified as class 2. Did I understand something wrong?

How do I format something as "0.000"?
Hi,
I would like to use the format function to get numbers all with three
digits to the right of the decimal point, even in cases where there is no
significant digit left. For example, I would like to get
c(0.3456789,0.0000053) as "0.346" "0.000".
It seems that it is not possible to force format to print a "0.000", i.e.
without any significant decimal places.
Is it

I'd have to test, but it looks right. I don't expect much improvement,
but it makes the code simpler, especially for memory. Would also have to
test on fixed-point and see if it works.

I would like to document more than one function on one help page using the

Error in qda.default(mfilters[cvtrain, ], as.factor(traingroups)) :

Installing R with all packages
Hi,
I want R to be installed on a UNIX network (Solaris). I am not the system
administrator and so I cannot do it myself.
The system administrator wants to know which packages I want, and it may be
a lot.
Is there an easy way to download and install all packages at once?
Is it a good idea? (There is a good chance that I do not need the some
few packages that do not install well during such a
