Repeatable, But Time Varying R GUI Crash
Hello,
I'm having a problem in R. The R GUI is crashing with a message to
contact Microsoft for the solution. I've contacted Microsoft and they
are of no help. Below is a distilled set of code that will cause the
crash. As you will see, there are two do-loops within which is a "load"
command. The crash usually occurs after 200*400 (=80,000) to
2,000*400(=800,000)

Have you looked at the error.log yet?

Message Filenames
Is there anyway to get a message's filename through the imap server? I've been developing a program for awhile and just switched to dovecot from courier. Courier had a file that for every line was like:
<message uid> <message filename>
Is there anway to get this information out of dovecot?

Dovecot LDA + Fedora destribution = no go?
Anyone know of a way to get the LDA to work on the fedora distribution
available on yum? I'm a big fan of the whole yum-auto-updating thing but
if this isn't possible, I'll go tarball.

What is there in Samba 3 that requires new/different settings in WinXP than Samba 2 did?
Additional, maybe useful info:
-my smb.conf has no "os" line, nor any "wins" line.
-the XP machine has shown up on some screen as "master browser"
Many thanks.

Non R probability question
Dear R People:
Here is a non-R probability question, please:
There is a problem, originally posed from an American game show,
called "Let's Make a Deal."
A contestant makes a selection of one door, from Doors 1 through 3.
He or she knows that there are 2 goats and 1 car behind those doors.
Once the contestant makes the selection, say Door 2, then the host,
Monty Hall, tells him

Backing Up To Windows File Server
Greetings,
Working with dsync and setting up backups to a Windows file server.
Problem seems to be that Windows is renaming the dovecot mail files
(maildir) to Windows friendly filenames, and losing the Dovecot name.
For example,
1323817925.M36368P32049.triata.globalchangemultimedia.net,S=2255,W=2318:2,S
becomes 1AETPH~X.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to tell Windows to not do this?

OSX 10.9.2, samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu vs Microsoft Office 2011 and Read-Only files
Upgraded from samba 3.6.20 on gentoo to samba 4.1.6 on Ubuntu Trusty. Since the upgrade all attempts to open Microsoft Office files results in the file being opened Read-Only. Found multiple posts from multiple sites dealing with similar problems.

Problem With Repeated Use Of Load/Save/Close Commands
Hello,
I'm having a problem in R with repeated use of the "load", "save", and
"close" commands. I'm getting an error message that reads, "Too many
open files". I'm opening files and closing them (and unlinking them),
but when I go through that process 509 times, the program halts and I
get this error message: "cannot open the
