Samba AD Internal DNS, Postfix & Email Relay
Is there an extra step which must be taken to get postfix to deliver email via a relay host when the postfix machine is pointing to an samba internal DNS? I did a test setup using a public DNS server and it worked. Same setup where the machine (Debian 9) is pointing to a samba DNS doesn't work. The errors in the postfix log seem to be DNS related. Thanks,

Dovecot on different server than MTA
Hi, I'm setting up our new mail system using dovecot as mailbox server. As our goal is to have many many small redundant (virtual) servers as components, for example a mailhub (just relaying mail) and a frontend smtp server (just accepting or denying mail in the first place and then forwarding it to the mailhub), etc. I want to run Dovecot on a different server than the main MTAs. The mailbox

...s no valid message from that address, sugesting yet another email address, it doubts the authenticity of your recomendation Remko, you sugested I should look into securing my emailserver installation by preventing unauthorized access. you are of the opinion that ICMP PING is not the cause of spam mailrelaying. could I ask you if my Apple mac is any risk due to the PING portal being open? if so would you advice me on what to do? winbind seems to hang when the DC goes down instead of switching to the other available DC
Hai marco, Well, this is a hard one to answer for me. I'll give it a try. ;-) > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens > Marco Gaiarin via samba > Verzonden: vrijdag 2 augustus 2019 15:28 > Aan: samba at lists.samba.org > Onderwerp: Re: [Samba] winbind seems to hang when the DC goes > down instead of switching

winbind seems to hang when the DC goes down instead of switching to the other available DC
Hai Marco, Yes, best is to use the "localhost" dns setup as caching/forwarder only. All you need is for the forwarding is : zone "your.dnsdomain.tld" { type forward; forwarders { IP_DC1; IP_DC2; }; }; zone "168.192.in-addr.arpa" { type forward; forwarders { IP_DC1; IP_DC2; }; }; If you think its still to slow, remove > options attempts:2

Message display corrupted or missing in Netscape 7.0 and Mozilla 1.3
Hi, a few days ago, we switched our site from pop3 to imap. We are running about 20 users with Netscape 7.0 on a FreeBSD-4.8 Server . I installed dovecot 0.9.99.1 via the freebsd-ports collection, which was as easy as make install and start dovecot. Our users mailboxes are still standart mbox format in /var/mail/(user), as it is default in Freebsd. Now we suffer from a realy ugly problem,

I will get a smbd process started. (If this is incorrect please let me know ;) But this morning I did a quick ps -ax on my machine and found *two* smbd -D in the process list. But as far as I know there is no connection to the samba server right now. I did connect to and disconnect from the server yesterday but I would think that that connection would have been released by now. Can anyone
