Error when searching in mailfolders
Hello, I just found that with my dovecot 2.2.21, when I use squirrelmail to search for something in my mailfolders, that fails with ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server. Query: SEARCH CHARSET ISO-8859-1 ALL FROM "someone" That happens for searches in any folder, except from INBOX. When I search in all folders, only results from INBOX are found, then the error message is shown. The log says: im...

Doubled subjectlines in mailfolders
Hi, after the upgrade from 0.99 to 1.0rc15 on our RHEL 5 Server I noticed, that some of my mailfolders do double the mails subject line in the listview of thunderbird. The mail itself isn't doubled and the second mail contains a different content from a mail that didn't show up in the list. SO it seams, that only the subject line is somehow wrong. Any ideas or tips? I haven't found...

BUG: cannot move messages to root mailfolder in namespace "There can be only one namespace with inbox=yes"
Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply. I got the error below, but when I changed the prefix in 4archives to Archive/ I am getting indeed something that is looking ok, I still have to test with a few clients. Why did you call the namespace 4archives? Because it would load before inbox? Or does this not matter at all. Error: namespace configuration error: Duplicate namespace prefix: ""

store log file in mailbox / mailfolder
Say I am running some script on a user's mail account. What is the easiest way to store the log output of this script directly into a mail folder of this user? I do not want to send a message to the inbox.

mail messages moving between mailfolders
Hello to all! I'm using IMAP-based antispam self-learning. I have a folder "spam" in each Maildir in which I place spam-tagged messages during delivery. If antispam filter makes mistake, user can drag'n'drop message to/from "spam" folder. I running perl-script periodicaly and retrain spam-filter (dSpam). Now I must scan all messages, but it's not a good

Dovecot v1.2 ACL shared-boxes users in SQL, how to remove entries?
...SHA1 Hello, I noticed that entries added to the ACL dict are not removed, when an user no longer has explicit ACLs to another user, e.g.: [at the beginning no ACLs for "user"] 1 login testuser pwd 2 setacl INBOX user lp 3 deleteacl INBOX user Although "user" has no ACLs of mailfolders of "testuser", the user-testuser relation is still in the DB and upon login of user the ACLs in user's Maildir is consulted. OT - Experience using Gmail for Asterisk Mailing List
...ymore. It even hides extensive quoting and gives me a little link that reads "show quoted text" where the quoted text exceeds a certain number of lines. If you click on that, it will reveal the quoted text and give you a link underneath that reads "hide quoted text". Instead of mailfolders, Gmail has what is called labels. This works almost like mailfolders but has the advantage that messages can be attached to more than one label, in other words it is like messages being present in multiple mailfolders at once. This comes in very handy when you want to keep most of the mailing list...

Always 'new mail' false notifications?
...All I can think of, is that something is happening with modification timestamps of my mailboxes which signals the new mail flag, but I don't know what causes it. A small description of my setup: One server running dovecot. I access mail locally via IMAP, but can also access the spoolfiles and mailfolders directly. I'm the only one with shell access. Procmail filters mail and delivers it to my mailfolders in ~/Mail. Any ideas ? -- Stephan van Beerschoten [KeyID: 0x08F12864] "To err is human, to forgive is Not Company Policy"...

dovecot-shared tries to fchown index+control files but fails
I have some public mailboxes setup in 1.0.0, location = maildir:/egr/mail/shared/org:CONTROL=%h/Maildir/dovecot/public/control/org:INDEX=%h/Maildir/dovecot/public/indexes/org I also have a dovecot-shared file in the maildir folders so messages that are added to the inbox get a decent set of default permissions. However, I think dovecot is also trying to fchown the index files (stored in a user

Procmail patch for dovecot delivery
Hello! As discussed in the previous thread about "Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail" I have made a small patch for procmail to deliver through dovecot's deliver program (or any other delivery program). So Procmail does not write the mailboxes directly any more. So delivery is done through pipes and an external program which can deliver the files. Since dovecot's

BUG: cannot move messages to root mailfolder in namespace "There can be only one namespace with inbox=yes"
I can only move messages to a root namespace folder when specifying inbox=yes. That is strange because it is not even the inbox. I don't even get why it is not by default possible, maybe bug there? You have made the mistake of overloading the use of a parameter inbox=yes (or not creating a parameter to tell folder can be used to move messages to), there is indeed only one folder that gets

BUG: cannot move messages to root mailfolder in namespace "There can be only one namespace with inbox=yes"
Hi, this setting might work. The default namespace "inbox" is managing INBOX and defines Special-Use folders on the same hierarchic level as INBOX. There is an extra namespace "4archives" which defines Archive as a mailbox on the same level as INBOX but stored on a different location. Set mailbox attribute auto to your liking. namespace inbox { type = private disabled = no hid

Bug report: "doveadm rename" encodes special characters wrongly in mUTF-7 (in fs)
Hello there, I'm pretty sure I found a bug in latest Dovecot 2.2.5.5 (EE) when playing with the doveadm command. Naturally renaming a users mail folder should be done via "doveadm es consistent. So when using "doveadm rename" trying to rename a folder with special characters e.g. german umlauts like "??" it seems to create the folder wrongly in the filesystem.

quota-warning: possible to have size also?
Hi, I'am using a Maildir++ based quota setting which creates a maildirsize file in every Maildir. The first two lines of this file are the maximum quota in bytes then the actual consumption in bytes and number of messages, like so : 1073741824S 379317999 5169 This means this user has a quota of 1Gb and he is using ~ 379 Mb (you have to divide by 1024 to be more precise) Since the
