Custom Mail Directory for some users
...stomer of mine needs usernames different from the mail address for
his third party software to work. In other words, I need the ability to
login with the username foo to get access to the mailbox
bar at example.com. So I tried to override the mail_location property for
this user with a separate mailDirectory attribute in my LDAP tree.
Speaking in dovecot.conf words:
mail_location = maildir:/var/spool/dovecot/mail/%d/%n
auth default {
machanisms = plain
passdb ldap {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.com
}
userdb ldap {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.com
}
userdb static {

Replication .dovecot-sync.lock
...With a self-written module an IMAP user can get access to his homedirectory:
protocol imap {
mail_plugins = afsToken
}
The user has to type in his password. Obviously this does not work for
replication.
Is there a way to specify a different location for the lockfile?
Isn't better to use the maildirectory but the homedirectory?
Is there a way to set the homedirectory differently for replication?
Thank you for any help.

is there a script to find a message from a given username easily?
...from, say, smith at foo.ber were stored in ~/Mail/smith; all mail
from smith was catenated into one file, and if I wanted to
find something that smith had written, I would just cd to
~/Mail and grep or egrep on a likely word or phrase.
Is there a script that can reach into my server into My
maildirectory and cp or symlink (say) ~/Maildir/smith's files:

converting from maildir to mdbox ?
I?m considering moving from maildir to mdbox, but don?t quite see how
I should do the conversion with minimal downtime. Our userdb is ldap,
and the we use this setting to point to the users maildirectory:
user_attrs = mailMessageStore=mail=maildir:%$:INDEX=/indexes/%1u/%1.1u/%u,mailQuota=quota_rule=*:storage=%$
i.e. every user has a "mailMessageStore" attribute in LDAP that points
to his INBOX. Any ideas for how we can migrate user by user to mdbox?
Can we add a mailboxFormat attribute...

specifying home/sieve/sieve_dir relative to mail_location
...ent file server) by using an LDAP entry.
I know it's possible to specify everything relative to home, so I could probably use relative ~/../-type paths for mail_locatin etc., but that looks a bit awkward.
The VirtualUsers/Home Wiki enty contains an example for relative paths
user_attrs = .., mailDirectory=home=/var/vmail/%$
which I do not understand.

mirroring one domain.tld to domain.tld.au
I have Postfix/Dovecot/postfixadmin/MySQL with several virtual mailbox
domains
one of the domains is like aname.com.au, the user also now has aname.com,
and, would like to 'mirror' most of the addresses to be user at aname.com,
THOUGH, some are to remain as user2 at aname.com.au
so, both user at aname.com as well as user at aname.com.au should be one user
the users retrive emails as

LDAP, sieve, and virtual users
This seems to be a common topic but I haven't seen anyone ask this exact
question and get a decent answer:
I use virtual mailboxes with all of the db's in LDAP. Last night I
upgraded to the latest CVS version of dovecot and dovecot-lda and got
global sieve filtering working by setting the global_script_path to a
sieve like /home/vmail/mydomain/sieve and it works great. Now I need to

Problem with menu.c32
I'm trying to use menu.c32 to boot different kickstart files.
The problem I have is regardless of what menu item I select, it always uses
the client.cfg (default entry) even if I select one of the others.
Any ideas.
Thanke,
Mike Jarka
