Problems with accessing samba printer from Windows
Hi, I recently migrated from Madrake/Mandriva to Ubuntu (8.04) on the machine with the printer attached. When I set up samba originally my understanding of it was very limited. It's probably even more limited now (brain cells dying off! :-) ). However, at least it did what I wanted - gave access to the printer and a scratch disk...

DAR - Disk ARchive packaged for CentOS?
...ondoarchive almost succesfully but recently found what i think i was needing, it's called DAR (http://dar.linux.free.fr/) - i think im not the first that uses it - anyway, after searching for it already packaged for CentOS/RHEL/Fedora, i didn't find it. It's already packaged for debian, madrake, openSuSe, etc.. but i think there's not a pkg for RHEL systems. If somebody knows where i can find it i would appreciate it, or even if it's possible to include it in CentosPlus repo, TIA Jose.

Multiple Samba Boxs & Replication.
...achine to another, say using ftp mirror program? All clients would be win98, so thats the easy part. Also does the main Samba code (not the development stuff) support acting as a PDC for a domain. I really want to get rid of our SBS NT servers for Linux/Samba. I am currently using 2.1prealpha on Madrake 6.0/I386. Comments? Suggestions? unexpected.tdb
I have been using samba 2.2.2 for quit awhile running with security= share in my company. I looked into the /var/lock/samba and found a growing file unexpected.tdb. Is there a way to trim it down while samba is running or do I have to start and stop samba? Is this an expected behavior? TIA Joseph Loo

Hi everybody, I've upgraded from 2.2.1 to 2.2.3a. I've downloaded the zip file - unzipped it in /root/tmp/Samba - run "./configure" - run "make" - run "make install". Everything went well. Restarted Linux and checked the version in swat. It still was 2.2.1. Samba was running when I installed 2.2.3a. What did I do wrong?? Thanks Kris Vandaele Adecco

Problem with Samba as Member of AD, Kerberos
Hello all, I have this configuration: Samba 3.0.20 as a member server in Win2K3 AD (runs on Madrake 10.2 - no flames please ;-) ). Winbind works fine (wbinfo etc are ok), kinit is ok (or seems ok...), and all users are happy... Of course there is a BUT... All the above work fine as long as I use NetBIOS resolution. For example, my server has "XXX" as a name and "YYY&quo...

WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication
Setup: Suse 7.2, Samba 2.2.6 Win 2K PDC Project: I would like to use winbind to authenticate users that do not have local accounts on the linux machine for access to various file and print shares. I have gotten winbind to successfully grab the user and groups from the NT box (verified by getent passwd). However, I have had little luck obtaining the permission based file share that I would
