LSUB "" "" vs LIST "" "" (hacked Apple Mail problem)
...do in this case, but Courier IMAP has LSUB act like LIST. The attached patch modifies imap/cmd-list.c to make Dovecot do the same. Why do I care about LSUB? I'm using a hack for Apple Mail that replaces its LIST command with LSUB (something like what's described here: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php? story=20040407062603804), to prevent it from syncing public folders from the Exchange server at the office. The hack replaces _all_ LISTs with LSUBs, including the LIST "" "" Mail.app sends to discover the hierarchy delimiter. Since dovecot doesn't...

ogg player for mac
Hi: Seems to me that Whamb! needs to be listed on the vorbis.com software page for MacOSX. This seems to be the best player out there for the mac (acording to what I've read here and on other lists) and it's not listed there (or at least it wasn't about 12 hours ago). Ogg Support For iTunes
Hi, From slashdot.org : "Mac OS X Hints has a story about a plugin for QuickTime and iTunes that enables the user to play all of those Ogg Vorbis files that you have sitting on your hard drive, but can't play because of lack of support from Apple." Links: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20021103065300430 , http://www.illadvised.com/~jordy . Don´t know if this has been covered beforer at this list. If it has, I´m sorry for the duplicate post. Best regards, Andreas Karlsson Sweden --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project h...

I am writing "HOW-TO install and integrate ssh on Mac OS X" ... (Where can I publish it?)
Hello. I am currently writing a HOW TO install a custom compiled OpenSSH on Mac OS X.2 and X.3 (Jaguar) and (Panther) and how to make this service controllable in "System Preferences" without breaking Apple's original OpenSSH implementation. Can I publish this (for free) somewhere on the net? Maybe OpenSSH.org itself is interested? Thank you for an address or link to get into

OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) HFS+ File Compression
Are there any patches (or planned updates) to rsync v3.0.6 to handle the HFS+ File Compression that Apple introduced with Snow Leopard?

Fwd: OS X Clients Can't Create Sub-Directories
...f .DS_Store files on network volumes, as the wrong permissions on these files can prevent users from doing things they expect to be able to do. >> >> There are many postings on the net about how to disable the creation of the .DS_Store files, for example: >> >> http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051130083652119 I have removed all .DS_Store files, and disabled creation of new ones on all the macs in the office. I'm still having the issue where I cannot create sub directories as described above. Other thoughts? Thanks! -- Kimball

OS X Clients Can't Create Sub-Directories
I'm running samba on a local linux server, with a bunch of shares. Over the last several years, this has worked perfectly in our heterogenous network of OS X and Windows. All my windows clients still work perfectly - my users can mount the samba shares and create, rename, move etc files and folders. However, recently (starting yesterday) my OS X clients are unable to rename any sub

Live streaming from Mac OS X
I am trying to stream live audio from a Mac OS X ibook to a linux machine running mplayer2 using instructions http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php? story=20020704134818926&query=live+itunes+streaming I managed to compile everything (Icecast 2.2.0, libshout2, etc). To compile icecast, i had to use "fakepoll.h" header file from sealiesoftware.com/fakepoll.h to get around with the poll.h errors on Mac OS X....
