[Flac-users] Mac Players
Are there any other Mac media players beside MacAmp Lite X that can play flac
files?
I ask because I'm having trouble getting MacAmp Lite X to play m3u playlists,
of which I have over 500.
Are there any alternatives?
Thanks,
Sean

What streaming software does support naming the mount point? I'm
familiar with WinAmp, and have been using MacAmp most recently, both
with broadcast modules designed with Shoutcast in mind. It lets you

Recieving Ogg streams on a Mac?
I have yet to speak to a single Mac user who has successfully received a
live or archived Ogg stream. I'm been told neither MacAmp nor Quicktime will
accept streams, they only play files.
Are there any Mac users on this list who can recommend a player (from
personal experience) which actually plays Ogg streams?

Client Problems
Thanks for the help, I can have people connect that are still on my local

something special I'm not doing (that i should) to give outsiders access ?

osx and icecast
I've got two quick q's about icecast. If these two q's have already
been answered, could someone let me know when so I know where to look
in the archives?
Here's the siutation. Macamp has now gone bunk and I need to broadcast
my dj show from my home to a server that has NullSoft shoutcast. The
dj's normally use winamp's shoutcast plugin to broadcast to the
shoutcast server.
Q1) Is ICECAST the program I need to send my signal to another

mac player for ogg streams
Hi,
I have 2 Icecast2 servers set-up (1 unix and 1 win32) that I have been
testing with live streams using Oddcast. I can get the stream playing in
Winamp no problems but on the Vorbis.com site it suggests that Macamp
supports streaming :
"A MacOS vorbis player that has highly integrated streaming features."
Although it doesnt say it specifically supports ogg, and as it happens it
doesnt (I also have this confirmed by the developers of Macamp).
I have also tried the other two players Audion and Unsa...

quicktime version or anything else in the system..
I think a good policy on these plugins is to not recommend them, if
people want to use them and get them to work that's great, but prehaps
something like macamp or mint audio would be better to recommend.
We really should compile a list of players which work properly with
icecast, prehaps start an "icecast certification" process? :-) Ie, it
has to play Ogg, has to handle chained bitstreams properly (change
metadata, not go haywire when the numb...

ogg player for mac
Hi
Does anyone know of an ogg player for the mac (os 9) that actually works with
icecast. I've tried audion, macamp, unsanity echo, and mint with no results
whatsoever. They all play ogg files from disk, and all grab an mp3 stream from
icecast, but as soon as I try streaming ogg they all fail to regonise it.
(except for audion, which for some reason plays the stream as twice the speed?)
Thanks

Core Audio player for OS X?

Without even worrying about your 24/96 issue, which OSX flac
player have you been using?
Here's what I've tried, and why it doesn't work well for me:
- the old MacAmp player - very crashy
- xmms - works, even with coreaudio output (xmms-coreaudio plugin,
make sure to apply the patch that tells OS X that it's a realtime
thread). however, i have a second sound card (usb griffin iMic)
that's hooked to the stereo, i'd like music to go there a...

Icecast2 server temporarily down, now back
Hi all:
I've been away for the past week and moved house before that. Quite
impressively, the icecast2 server I'm running stayed up all that time. It
went down at 8 minutes past midnight EDT (04:08 GMT) on Monday 16/07. It
looks like someone did the same thing as before - kicked it over by
attempting to connect a source to an already existing mountpoint. by all
means use the server to
