hi guys
question on usage of subversion.

Upgrading Samba 4 server [SEC=UNOFFICIAL]
UNOFFICIAL
I am running several small networks with Samba 4 acting as AD/DC.
I want to upgrade the OS and Samba on the older servers. But I understand that to upgrade the OS, I need to do a new install (at least to get from Centos 6 to 7). I don't have the luxury of new hardware, so creating a secondary DC and taking over from PDC is not an option.
These are small networks so recreating the

Compiling latest postfix fails on C8
Hi,
I tried to compile the latest version of postfix, runs fine on C6 and C7,
on C8 it fails.
Complaining about missing ypclnt.h, this should com from glibc-headers.
Any suggestions?

Recommended Configuration Control Software?
We have several dozen production Linux servers and I would like to
have better control over what files are changed, by whom, when they
were changed, etc. Because these are all production servers that are
in use 24x7, we do not have the luxury of simply doing a clean build,
taking md5sums of each file, and then doing fresh installations. I
need a system that can take in-place snapshots of each

[LLVMdev] interesting possible compiler bug
They have been discussing this for a solid two days on the C committee
list with many pro and con opinions, all supported by various parts of
the standard or other sources.
My personal opinion is that it's only a bug if some real program can be
made to fail because of this.
If I were writing this test case for LPT, I would call an external
function and pass the value curr to it.
If I

Security - Using Linksys PAP2T from outside with a dynamic IP is there anyway to block all other traffic but those of the PAP2T?
Hi Everyone
I think PAP2T supports DynDNS and other Dynamic DNS providers. I have a box
that needs to be secured at all times. Currently it's not connected to the
internet. If it were connected, I would have iptables block any and all
traffic from outside but I want a single device - Linksys PAP2T - to be able
to connect back to the server. That is a stand alone device and doesn't
support

Java Examples
Where should I look for an example of how to connect to Icecast from Java?
(I have a MySQL/Tomcat application with MP3's in the DB and need to stream
them using Java and Icecast.)
Thanks,
Mike D.

[LLVMdev] interesting possible compiler bug
For what it's worth, I will be at the social tonight, and am happy to
discuss this paper. I'm a co-author and the instigator the work here to
clarify the spec and allow a large number of exciting optimizations on code
that have previously not be employed merely because of the use of malloc
rather than (for example) alloca.

cross validation and parameter determination
Hi all,
In Tibshirani's PNAS paper about nearest shrunken
centroid analysis of microarrays (PNAS vol 99:6567),
they used cross validation to choose the amount of
shrinkage used in the model, and then test the
performance of the model with the cross-validated
shrinkage in separate independent testing set. If I
don't have the luxury of having independent testing
set, can I just use the

I tried Firefly softphone with IAX and it gave very
poor quality.
Any one advise a good strong softphone that can work
with IAX fine?

You can only select one output plugin in Winamp and that needs to the
the SQRSoft one, not the Null output plugin. The audio needs to pass

This code is essentially from an LTP test ( http://ltp.sourceforge.net/
<http://ltp.sourceforge.net/> ).
#include <stdlib.h>
int main() {
void *curr;
do {
curr = malloc(1);
} while (curr);
return 0;
}
If you compile it with no optimization, it will keep the malloc calls.
If you compile it with -O2, it will create an infinite loop, i.e.
assuming that malloc

Do we need a rebase bug for RHEL 7.4?
Hi Pino,
$subject -- do we intend to rebase libguestfs, virt-v2v and virt-p2v
in RHEL 7.4? If yes, we should file the rebase bug soon.
Pros:
- The RHEL 7.3 package has 151 patches on top of 1.32.6. Rebasing
would get almost all those patches. Not rebasing would mean (at
predicted growth rate) shipping ~300-400 patches.
- Backporting patches is currently hard work since the code

You leaned on a 386 with (2?) floppy drives? I had to make do with DOS 3.0
on an 8088 w/ 2 floppy drives... and let me tell you how much fun it was
to compile (I kid you not)

What's upholding the new clamav?
Hi,
My clamav is complaining that the version is outdated. There is a new one
0.100 but epel is not updating the rpm.
Why is there a delay?

CentOOS 8 and libuv
Hi all,
Why is libuv-devel missing in CentOS-8?
The rpm for libuv is preset but libuv-devel is not there.
