Poll: what features are you lusting for in v4
While we're waiting on the keebler elves to make the new CentOS 4, what
feature(s) are you most lusting after in RHEL/CentOS 4?
For me:
- official Mysql 4!!! (man does this make me happy)
- official Subversion
..are my top two, they will make me a happy camper for so many projects.
:) Sure sure the 2.6 kernel is nice, but that super-patched 2.4 kernel
on v3 seems to work quite well too...

Xen on OpenSSI?
Any thoughts on running Xen on OpenSSI? We have an app we''d like to
cluster but is expressly and completely incompatible with the OSes that
OpenSSI are supported on, but if we can run several Xen domains on a
cluster we can run those OSes and, naturally, that app.
Thoughts?

NLME model question
Dear R-helpers
I have a problem related to the use of NLME
I think is simply a matter of getting the nlme coding correct, but i cannot
get my brain around it
I am analysing some 24 growth curves of some cells , and i wanted to say
that there are significant differences between the curves in two parameters
that describe the pattern of growth. these parameters are from a logistic

lme model: Error in MEEM
Hi,
We have data of two groups of subjects: 32 elderly, 14 young adults. for
each subject we have 15 observations, each observation consisting of a
reaction-time measure (RT) and an activation maesure (betadlpcv).
since we want to analyze the influence of (age-)group and RT on the
activation, we call:
lme(betadlpcv ~ RT*group, data=our.data, random=~ RT |subject)
this yields:

#g = a line vector with 4 elements e.g. g=[1,0,2,0];
my rewritten r-file:

Developpers vs users
I think some developers should get at some time down their high horses.
I comment or a question is not meant as degrading their work. It is just a fact seen no more no less, maybe followed by an idiotic question from somebody that may not have had a PHD in Windows API.
Telling the user *you are an idiot*, replace your prefix because it's W2000 also W2000 *had never* been used *vergraut mir

Feature request FLAC
Dear all,
I am an active FLAC user and like the program a lot! Thanks for your
great work. Since I am not a developer I cannot modify the program on my
own.
Maybe you might be interested in features I would find useful. Maybe others
find them interesting as well and you find the time to implement them.

Large file support (up and down) for Mongrel 0.13.3
I''ve just checked in changes to improve handling of massive posts and
massive downloads. Generally speaking, Mongrel has been keeping
everything in memory. (Unless you''re using DirHandler and have the
sendfile gem in place.) Now, downloads should be pretty swift even
without the sendfile gem.
HttpResponse#send_file rips out the file streaming support from
DirHandler and

Hi Ajay:
A casual search of google using terms like "MCMC", "Markov Chains", "Monte

better way to trick data frame structure?
Hi,
I have a data frame where 1 variable is a factor with only 1 level. I need
the data frame structure to reflect that there are 2 levels for this factor,
even though this is not the case. I am currently adding extra 'fake' rows
to the data frame to ensure that 2 levels are present, but this is slowing
processing time in a loop quite a bit. Can I manually specify that this

run programs .exe from cdrom/dvd
Some of my programs need to be starting from cdrom or dvd after execution of
the local .exe from harddisc. How is the proceeding to achieve a running
program from cdrom/dvd? The link from .wine/windos/dosdevices to the cdrom
and dvd is already established and works.
May it's necessary to write a shell script to run after start from
cdrom/dvd. On the other hand, may it would help to make a copy

FW: [Rcpp-devel] Question on 5.6 Interfacing C++ code
Hi, apparently I sent my question about using R and C++ to the wrong list,
ironically seeing as that list was called Rcpp. Anyway, I was directed to
post my question here. To summarize my current question, I have found two
commands that I want to be able to put into a package. The commands are 'R
CMD SHLIB X.cc X_main.cc' and
