Ferret doesn''t work with Luke
Hi, Does anyone know why the indexes created by Ferret can''t be opened by Luke (http://www.getopt.org/luke/)? When I do development with Clucene I use Luke all the time to understand what is going on in the index. It is especially useful when trying to diagnose analyzer issues. When I try to open a Ferret index with Luke I get the message "Invalid or corrupted index". I

"not authorized" when testing mongrel support
Hi, We''re trying to follow the instructions at http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMongrel (Just using a single puppetmaster/mongrel instance and plain mod_proxy for now, instead of balancer one) We got past the "Server is not a class" error by modifying mongrel.rb We also kind-of got past the: /opt/bin/puppetmasterd:293: undefined method `daemonize'' for

[External] R C api for 'inherits' S3 and S4 objects
Thank you Luke. That is why I don't use Rf_inherits but INHERITS which does not allocate, provided in the email body. I cannot do similarly for S4 classes, thus asking for some API for that. [External] REprintf could be caught by tryCatch(message)
Thank you Luke for prompt reply. Is it possible then to request a new function to R C API "message" that would equivalent to R "message" function? Similarly as we now have C "warning" and C "error" functions. Best, Jan On Sun, Sep 15, 2019 at 5:25 PM Tierney, Luke <luke-tierney at uiowa.edu> wrote: > > On Sun, 15 Sep 2019, Jan Gorecki wrote:

[LLVMdev] Is -m32 supported by llvm-gcc when using LTO/gold?
I have gold from cvs, and llvm-gcc/llvm from svn. My platform is Ubuntu 9.04 x86_64. I've configured llvm-gcc with "--enable-multilib". When compiling the LTO example from http://llvm.org/docs/LinkTimeOptimization.html I have no problems with 64-bit compilation, but get the following with -m32. luked at node:~/tests/lto$ make USE32=1 llvm-gcc -m32 -c -o main.o main.c llvm-gcc

switch to reference counting in R-devel
This is very exciting news. Luke, thank you for all your work on this - I know it's been a long journey. Override to unspecify
In the normal override method, you can change the value of a parameter, but can you unset a parameter? file { "/etc/somefile": mode => 644, owner => "dude" } File ["/etc/somefile"] { mode => unset } ??

switch to reference counting in R-devel
Baring any unforeseen issues R-devel will switch in about a week from the NAMED mechanism to reference counting for determining when objects can be safely mutated in base C code. This is expected to have minimal impact on packages not using unsupported coding practices in their C code. The transition to reference counting has been in progress for a number of years. Some older notes on this are

clean-up actions after non-local exits
Dear R-devel, Some time ago I started a thread that boiled down to clean-up actions after non-local exits in R, see below. I wonder if there has been any progress on this? R-ext 2.6.1 doesn't say much on the subject. How, for example, do people deal with a situation where their C (C++) function opens a file and then receives a signal or longjump-s on error(), how do they make sure the

Replication only working one way
Hi, I have been trying for days to solve this to no avail. I have taken over the IT responsibilities at a small school and am trying to get my head around their network and why they are having problems. They have 3 servers, Matthew, Genesis and Luke. Matthew is a Windows 2008 R2 server and holds all the FSMO roles but appears to be screwed up. It won't replicate with anything and randomly

I am not using the C API from a package but with an embedded R. Why have it declared in the include/ if it cannot be accessed then? Seek failure with very short files
Hi all, Thanks in advance for your help, and sorry for the slow reply. I've created a small OS X example project <https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8vFUUth7NpvRFI0MmI2bVJNNEU/view?usp=sharing> that reproduces the issue. (I've run into the size limit for emails on this list so I've put it on Google Drive.) The program just initializes a libFLAC++ stream decoder for a given file

Participation on Samba lists
Luke Leighton (lkcl) has brought up his arguments about control of Samba before. In October 2000 they resulted in the creation of a new Samba code branch, samba-tng, which Luke and others who agreed with his direction were free to do with as they will. Samba-tng still exists, and we in the Samba Team still wish it well, but what we can't continue to put up with is Luke still rehashing the

mkChar can be interrupted
Hi, As was discussed earlier in another thread and as documented in R-exts .Call() should not be interruptible by Ctrl-C. However the following code, which spends most of its time inside mkChar, turned out to be interruptible on RH-7.3 R-1.8.1 gcc-2.96: #include <Rinternals.h> #include <R.h> SEXP foo0(const SEXP nSexp) { int i, n; SEXP resSexp; if (!isInteger(nSexp))

pxelinux efi64 boot woes on hyper-v gen 2

It's not this and I'm getting a PXE-E99 tftp failure "Unexepected Network Error", so I'll guess I'll need to investigate what kind of TFTP server makes hyper-v happy. Virtualbox, VmWare seem to have the same EFI boot code & output

Seattle Meetup?
Hi all, It looks like I''ll be in Seattle on Sunday, September 16th through Tuesday the 18th, and I''d like to have Puppet Meetup either Sunday or Monday night. On Adam''s recommendation, I''ll be staying at the Queen Anne Inn, so something near there would be best. Hopefully Adam or Blake can do the actual organization. :) Any takers? -- What is
