Can I mount an NFS volume and re-export via SAMBA?
...our new environment not so much. We want to provide this service to our users and the solution proposed to me is to utilize SAMBA as the mechanism to do so. After doing exhaustive googling and searching I can't seem to find if this is doable, and if it is what kind of things I should be on the lookout for, or configuring the system for. So first, is it possible? Second, if it is possible is it just a matter of mounting the NFS volume on the SAMBA server and then re-exporting to the Windows clients? Thanks, Jim

gnome 2.12 via yum?
...use gnome or x on any box i deploy for production use so haven't checked in to this. CentOS4 comes with gnome 2.8 from what i was told, the question is is it possible to do an update rpmwise to gnome 2.12 via yum? If so, what repositories do i need to enable to pull this off and what if any lookouts should i be aware of? Thanks. Dave.

mongrel updates?
Hello Zed, I was just wondering if there were any roadmap/changes coming for Mongrel in the future. Are there any plans to put the attachment parsing code back in, or just anything else to be on the lookout for? Honestly everything''s been working fine for me, so I shouldn''t care, but I''m one of those guys who loves new toys every few months. Thanks for making my job easier...

Though I'm seeing periodic "IMAP protocol error" messages in Pine, but they don't seem to be affecting the software's operation that I can see. Anything in particular I should be on the lookout for? Otherwise, you just made my day. Correction; week. :D --Ian.

Has the "IOPL not enabled" not been solved yet
Being a new Ubuntu 10.10 user, I am trying to get Wine to work in order to access some of my previous WIN XP programs. When I try to use Outlook (from which it is still difficult to migrate to an appropriate Linux Prog), I always get the "IOPL not enabled" message. I have tried the fix with adding the gdiplus in libraries and changing it. But there is no effect. If the

...rts the FLAC format. I have tested some FLAC files that were encoded by jetAudio 6.06 (compression level 0, 4 and 8). I will try all compression ratios, but I guess that they will all work. If anybody wants me to test a specific encoder or program I would be more than obliged to do so. Stay on the lookout for Firmware version 1.30 on the iAudio M3. Perhaps you could then also add this player to the supported Hardware -> Portable list. More info on the iAudio M3 is available here: http://www.jetaudio.com/products/iaudio/m3/ If you have any questions on the player please feel free to ask. I have o...

Policies for AD clients (still poledit only ?).
I'm creating a deploy plan, for strict client policies (to comply to ISO standards and security) For mixed win 7 enterprise and win 10 enterprise on a Samba Active Directory. On the lookout if Samba would be any different towards client policies. I did some googling, and got pointed to old samba articles of 2007: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Implementing_System_Policies_with_Samba Saying that samba allows only for poledit.exe (not the mmc variants?) Is this still the case ?...

email and MS outlook
We use Microsoft Outlook heavy at school but our backed is CentOS. I use echo "Foo" | mail -s "subject" addr at unc.edu a lot. Is it possible to change the priority to High so Outlook will understand it? The priority meaning the email will be sent to the normal email queue but on Outlook it would have the exclamation point. TIA

I've had disagreements with my wife about that. What was it, Lookout, er Outlook '08 that did that? The *real* issue is that the way email traditionally was, with bottom posting, or intercollation, made it *readable*, and esp. if you come into a thread late, you could figure out what was going on. Spectrum Analyizer software
This was an interesting post from another list I'm on. I think that with all of the echo cancellation discussion happening, that someone perhaps might be on the lookout for this type of software, so this post was well-timed for Asterisk uses. It is perhaps the case that those of you working on volume/echo/etc stuff might find this useful towards your goals. Syslinux 5.00 released
...hanges from 4.06. I've included the NEWS entries below, which highlight the major changes. Lots of assembly code has been rewritten in C, which makes further development much easier (and also really helped for the 'firmware' abstraction that appears in Syslinux-6.00-pre1). So be on the lookout for regressions in this release when compared with 4.0x, though many bugs have been hammered out thanks to some excellent testing and feedback from various people. The COMBOOT stuff has been removed and now all modules are ELF objects, which allows us to do some neat things with symbols at runtime...
